Chapter 4

This is what I have found about Raven Badji.

As she said, she ran away what a man only to be abandoned by that man and her family. She is 16 years old. (A/N: kaia turned 17 a month after her mothers death.) One year younger than me. And the same age I was when my mother died. What a weird thing that is. Is 16 some weird bad omen age or what? Anyway, getting to the point. The maids of Earl Badji's house say that she was always hated. There has been no apparent reason for it.

Which can also be the cause of why that idiot man fooled her so easily. One that doesn't get a lot of love from people around them tends to find false hopes easy to rely on.

Anyway, with the spirit she showed me the other day, I might as well let her work. Since she is more educated, she can take some work off of my hands so I can start working on training spies which I have not found candidates for. Ugh, should I just give up? This is so annoying.

3 months later.

Since Raven has started working for me and I have kept a strict eye on her. She really hates her family is one thing I have gathered. And she also learned her lesson of not trusting people easily.

One day she brought me a child around the age of 6.

"Lady Kaia, I found this child in an ally and was wondering if we could keep her as one of the workers," Raven said.

I was reading something and said without looking up "and how will that benefit me" I didn't really care about whether we hire this child or not. Still, it really is fun asking Raven for all the why's.

"I- I will do anything you want please I just need a place to live and eat I won't even need money just food and shelter" this time the girl spoke. When I finally looked at her, she was trembling. I look at this child closely. It was evident that she was malnourished, her dark blue hair hid most of her face. She was covered with dirt from top to bottom. But there was a sign of courage I could see in her green eye that her hair give space to.

"Raven leave the room" it really piqued my interest when she said she will do anything. After Raven left, I asked the girl, "what do you mean you will do anything?"

The girl in front of me said nothing. She was still trembling, but now she was looking in my eyes and said, "Anything."

"what if I ask you to kill for me," I said.

"Anything" she repeats

I smirked. This is the one. I ask Raven to come in "take her to my house. Bathe her feed her and clothe her. She will be working for me directly and not for the workshop."
