There was a chilling quite in the room for quite a while. The twins have almost got used to this because of being around Kaia all this time, but today was different the air was between two very dangerous people, so they were almost trembling but kept themselves in control. All this while Kaia kept smiling as if she was winning a war. And the Duke looked like he couldn't care less why she was smiling, but internally he was still thinking that there was something odd about this girl to be so composed in front of him.
The first one to speak anything was Kory, while I say speak it was in actuality a burst of laughter. He couldn't control himself any more he was entertained that a girl like her existed that could be cold just like the Duke and that too in front of him.
"You are amazing lady." Kory finally said.
Duke gave Kory a glare to shut him up and said to Kaia "what do you wish to say?"
"We don't have to talk politely I understand neither of us really care for it. Unless of course, I have understood it wrongly." Kaia knew Duke hated formalities due to the book.
Duke just nodded to give his approval to talk informally.
"Very well let's begin. It's boring to just stare at each other and while I can do it all day long I'd rather not" Kaia said putting down the cup of tea she was drinking.
Kory was trying to stifle his laughter but was failing badly as his whole body was shaking.
The more the duke looked at her the peculiar she seemed. But he said nothing.
"I wish to talk with you alone so if you could please have everyone leave" Kaia said.
"But I want to stay," Kory said because he finds the whole thing hilarious.
"Leave" Duke said without looking at him.
Kory started leaving while looking dejected when Kaia said "would you mind if my girls accompany you?"
Kory nodded and the three of them left.
"Talk" the Duke said.
"I have something you might want to have back. In all honesty, I don't even think you know about its existence. And if it turns out that you have no use of what I'm about to tell you. Sign a contract with me that you will never ask me of it again" Kaia then pointed towards the document that she had made about Azai.
Duke picked it up. when he opened it he understood it in an instant and said "how do you know it's mine" he was furious as to how did he not know until now.
"He has the same eye colour as you and I know it's the colour of a direct descendant of your family"
"How do you know?"
"I'm actually really surprised no one has noticed until now"
Truth be told even he was when he found out the truth about his family. How has no one ever noticed?
Well, that's not the point right now.
"What do you want in return"
"Nothing yet, think of it as you owe me one. I mean Duke of Black Dragon owing me one just sounds so thrilling." the smile that never left her face widened.
'She really has won.' duke thought to himself. But of course, she doesn't need to know this though. "You know I can kill you"
"And I can make sure your son who is rather fond of me finds out that you are the biggest suspect if I die."
'She really is odd' internally he was smiling but his exterior remain the same cold kind since the beginning. The reason why he didnt think she was scheming something was due to his gut feeling. At the same time he had a feeling that when the time comes for him to pay the debt, it would not be a good thing. His gut feelings were right more often than not. Of course if she really is scheming something he would never let her go.
"I will be leaving for today," Kaia said standing up "Think about what you want to do. I have not told him about you yet. So if you decide to take him away from me we need to discuss more. Reach out to me when you are ready, I have written down how you can reach me at the end of the document. There is no real hurry so do it when you are ready."
Kaia didn't wait for a reply from him and just walked out of the room.
When Kaia found Kory and the girls they were in a garden playing tag and seem to be enjoying it. she decided to let them be for a while and look at the garden a little more. She really couldn't care if duke minded. She at least for now had an upper hand.
