Chapter 5

Raven POV

The first time I heard about Lady Kaia was from one of the workers of the workshop who seemed to be absolutely in love with her Lady Kaia. When I asked the worker about it, she said "no one knows where Lady Kaia came from, but one day she just appeared and open a workshop. She only seems to employ women so far. And she is so strong as well".

So I stood by Lady Kaia's workshop, hoping to see her and ask her for a job. The first time I saw her, she was wearing men's clothes, or at least they seemed like they were. Still, at the same time, she had a peculiar feminine charm that they almost looked better on her than any man I had ever seen. ( A/N: hahaha, my MC is just that beautiful).

Everything happened so fast that I didn't get a chance to talk to her. Since then, I've been waiting for an opportunity to speak with her. But I seem to not be able to say anything when I see her. As if lost in her charm. Then one day, she asked me "Why are you always here?"

"Do you own the road? Why can't I be here?" I lost my mind and said something I didn't want to. Ugh, I'm such an idiot.

"Very well, then why do you look at me with such anger in your eyes? I'm not really kind enough to let someone do that to me." She looked at me coldly, but her eyes are such a beautiful colour of emerald.

"I- I am not looking at you with anger," I said too loudly, which made me ashamed, and my face became hot. But I continued to talk " I wanted to work for you, and while I have minimal qualifications, I believe I can learn quickly."

She looked at me for a while. Then said, "Why should I hire someone like you?"

I know I'm good for nothing daughter of my family that no one likes in the family, but I want to work. "I was a daughter of Earl Badji. I fell in love with a man and ran away with him. Turns out what he wanted was not me but money and after my family refused to help me or take me back, I have been roaming the streets, and then I heard about you. You are a strong independent woman, and I wish to be like you and help you in any way I can." I told her my story, hoping to gain some sympathy.

"Come back in 5 days. I'll tell you if I have a use for you. What is your name?" She said this, and I felt maybe I will be able to work here.

"I- it's Raven."

"Not using your family name?"

"My family has abandoned me, so I have abandoned that name as well" I want to get rid of a family that doesn't care for me.

When I came back after 5 days, she said nothing and gave me a ledger and said to keep the stock and start selling in the shop.

She never checked on me too much. (A/N: Raven had no clue that those beautiful eyes of her Lady Kaia were keeping a good watch on herself. Kaia is also skilled in hiding her presence).

She would always give me proper feedback on how to work better. I genuinely feel great working for her.

She would sometimes deal with customers that are annoying and try threatening her with different things. Still, somehow anyone who threatens her would have some issues in life and will never bother her again. It felt like someone was protecting her (A/N: no-no she would dig up dirt on them and threaten to expose it. Everyone does terrible things that they don't want other people knowing).

One day when I brought a slum girl to Lady Kaia so that the girl can have a job to earn from and feed herself. Lady Kaia kept her as a personal helper. While I don't understand it completely, I will do whatever my Lady wishes. My Lady is the best.
