Chapter 25

The Dukes POV

After the first meeting in his house

'A kid, huh. Who exactly is this woman? She walked in here without fear and said I had a kid. I must ask someone to check on this, though.' Sent one of my spies. When they came back, the information they gave me was quite interesting.

'Lady Kaia had found them and let them have a look at Azai in secret. He looked much like me according to them.'

The woman gave me most of the information I needed. I wonder why they call her a lady. Especially after the manly clothes she wears.

I sent her a letter to come to meet me tomorrow.

Next day

She arrived just as appointed. She even dared to come alone. Does she really have no fear? On top of that, she seemed relaxed in this house of all place.

She again wore man's clothes. But for some reason, it seemed that they were made for her and not for men any more.

We talked for a while about the kid and that's when she said "do I not get a thank you? I did raise him for a while"

There have been people that have asked me to thank them before, but they have never lived long enough after that. Who does she think she is?

While I was thinking she suddenly said "Fine. I'm leaving. Wait for my message."

"Stop," I said because this woman is getting on my nerves for some reason and I still don't feel like killing her while I do feel a little blood thirst rising I control it before it leaked out.

"What?" she said with an annoyed tone.

"Sit," she doesn't decide when she leaves my house

"Why," she dared question me?

I don't need to explain myself

"Tell me why or I'm leaving"

"I'm trying to decide what ulterior motive do you have why did you help the kid" great now I am lying.

"The 'kid' has a name, Azai" She really is an idiot to show her anger towards me.

"Why did you help him?" I really am curious.

"There is no reason for it, I had been taking strays in, and he just happens to be one of them" doesn't sound like a lie but I don't buy it. why would a random woman take in kids that no one wanted?

I sat there looking at her. She looks delicate and deadly at the same time. She does have some muscles but doesn't look that strong. (A/N: actually she only looks weak because in her childhood she had a period of time when her mother couldn't find work and feed them thus she ended up malnourished. It doesn't really affect her strength today.) Her beige body tone made it look like it was made of silk. Her lips between the colour of pink and red looked natural. There was no evident make-up on her, yet she looked regal. I understand why people refer to her as a 'Lady' even though she doesn't have a title. Lady is a word that is used to describe a woman worthy of nobility but isn't really exclusive to nobility. By the time I noticed it was already sundown.

She simply stood up and left. She didn't even state the fact that she was leaving. She really has no fear.

Day Azai and the Duke meet.

I sat there staring at the boy that is my son quite a while. The reports and this woman were right he is my child. I was the only child from the previous dual couple.

Then I suddenly heard someone laughing, the kid and I looked at the sound of this laughter. It was Kaia. She was laughing in the room. What is wrong with this woman? I almost lost control of my face and sighed.

Then she dares threatened me to leave just like last time.

The kid and I disagreed in unison. He really is like me huh. Though he may have a different reason to disagree.

She forced us to start talking

"What do you want from me," now my focus was a little on the kid again. But I was looking at Kaia from the corner of my eye.

"Nothing yet, but if you prove yourself worthy, you can be the next duke." It was true I wanted a successor and didn't care who it was, as long as they could do a thorough job.

"What if you find yourself another kid like me."

"If you are the best, then you will be the next duke. That's what has happened in the past situations like this, and that is what will continue to happen." already want to be a duke? It's not easy to pass through my screening.

Kaia seemed to not care what we were talking and seemed in her own thought.

"What about my name? If possible I would like to keep it." Azai said.

"I don't mind" It was a good name I must agree.

The boy and I sat in agreement for a while and then Kaia grabs our attention again.

"Yawn, I will end up sleeping if the silence continues."

When we said nothing she continued.

"Do you guys want me to start living here or something." I might get to observe her properly that way. She is really starting to bug me.

"I have to go; I have a meeting with one of my associates."

"You don't have an associate" Azai said

So she was lying?

"I do, people just don't know about this," if it wasn't for the kid I would have thought she was telling the truth.

Why does she want to leave so badly? What is she hiding? "You might as well stay. The kid seems to want you here." I made up a reason for her to stay.

"OK, no, let's put a pause here," she said, her words didn't make sense.

"What's a pause," the boy and I asked

"Never mind, I will be leaving soon. Discuss what you want to." she insisted on leaving tried to divert my attention towards the boy "Have you decided on his education."

I simply answered her "I've appointed some teachers. They will start teaching next month."

"Can I continue with studying under lady Kaia?" the boy asked

"I wouldn't want you to," why did she refuse?

"Why?" boy also questioned her motive.

"Because you don't know enough of what is out there in the world to be saying that there are no better ways to study unless it's with me." it made sense to a certain degree. I can provide a better education than her.

The boy nodded and asked me "Will I be allowed to go over to lady Kaia's place once in a while."

"Do whatever you wish in that regard," this way I could keep a close eye on her. She bothers me for some reason.

"Then I believe things are settled for today. I really must leave now." She said and quickly made her way out of the room before the boy and I could say anything.

She sure is quick on her feet.

I called Ellis (the butler) "This is my son, you are to treat him as such from now on. His name is Azai, bring in the lawyer tomorrow and start his adoption process."

"Yes, your grace. If it's alright I shall put the young master in the guest bedroom now. And start preparing for young masters quarters. In addition to that, may I inquire as to which wing should I use for the young master."

"He will have the West Wing, show him to temporary quarters," I said.

"Yes my lord, young master if I may show you towards your temporary quarters." the boy then followed Ellis and left. I also left to work in my office.
