Chapter 22

After the three of them had left Kaia and the Duke alone. Kory didn't know what to do at first. But he wanted to know about the woman that was with the duke, so he asked them "Tell me who is that lady?" even though Kory said it in a very demanding and powerful manner, they didn't even flinch. The girls knew that Lady Kaia was much scarier than the man in front of them could ever be. So they said nothing.

Kory seeing this asked "Are you not afraid of me?" because even adults were so how could these kids not be.

"But you are not going to hurt us"

"Oh? How do you know"

These girls knew what blood thirst really felt like and that was even before they met Kaia, so they said "we can tell when people want to hurt us"

Interesting not only their lady but even they are quite odd.

"So what do we do now?" Kory asked.

"We don't know either. maybe wait for them?" one of the twins said.

"Nah too boring" Kory said

"Then let's play something. Oh, what do I call the two of you? I'm Kory"

"I'm Iris" said one of the twins.

"And I'm Emily," said the other one

"If you can't tell the difference between us, remember Emily is wearing a blue hat and I'm wearing red" said Iris with a smile.

Kory nodded.

They somehow after a lot of discussions decided to play tag. Kory liked the twins as they were not afraid of him. And the girls thought of Kory as a gentle giant.

After a long while, Kaia came and took the girls with her and went home.

She told the girls that no one in the house is to know where we went today and if someone bothers you tell them to come to talk to her instead.

Kaia POV.

It had been only one day. Sia bought me a letter which had no seal. She knew in an instant that this was by the duke. He does know how to follow instructions. The letter said that they should have another talk tomorrow.

'That man doesn't really waste time.' she thought to herself.

3rd person POV:

This time she went alone. To her surprise there was an actual butler there this time. As there was barely anyone there the last time.

They were once again alone, and she had already started to relax.

"So what conclusion did you arrive at," Kaia asked.

"I will take him."

"Very well, I'll tell him tonight. Oh, by the way, it was mentioned in the report that he has been studying a lot of things under me if either of you wish for it, I can continue with it."

"I will think about it"

"You better treat him good" she looked right into the dukes eyes as if threatening. "Give me a while I'll tell you when to pick him up once he has excepted the news of your existence."

The duke nodded.

"Do I not get a thank you? I did raise him for a while"

He said nothing.

"Fine. I'm leaving. Wait for my message."

"Stop," the duke said when she stood up.

"What?" she said with an annoyed tone.

"Sit"

"Why"

Silence

'Does he think everything will go his way?' Kaia thought.

"Tell me why or I'm leaving"

"I'm trying to decide what ulterior motive do you have. Why did you help the kid"

"The 'kid' has a name, Azai"

"Why did you help him?"

"There is no reason for it, I had been taking strays in, and he just happens to be one of them" she was getting irritated with these questions.

She finally sat down.

'Does she not have any fear?' thought the duke.

There was again silence.

They sat like that until sundown saying nothing. They were both judging the other party.

Kaia finally stood up and left without saying anything.

'Really fearless'

In the butler's mind:

'Did my workaholic master just spend an entire day with a woman doing nothing? What in the world is happening!!!'
