Fitz stared at his sister. She looked peaceful. The last time he had seen her she was a crying and miserable mess.

Like everyone else.

He had come home to see that his parents have returned. They were both freaking out. His father was talking with Elwin, panicked, while his mother was sobbing.

Fitz was partly angry at Biana. What she and Keefe has done was careless and stupid. Because of them Sophie was missing, and probably suffering.

What is she was...Gone?

His eyes filled with tears.

"Fitz are you okay?"

Fitz turned around to see Linh and Tam. Linh was playing with her silver tips, and Tam wasn't making eye contact.

"Oh...Hey Linh."

She came up to him and hugged him. "Your parents want to see us."

Fitz glanced at Biana. "Now?"

"Yes, their talking with Elwin."replied Linh. She glanced at Tam, who hadn't said anything yet. Fitz noticed a tear slide down his face.

Dex walked into the room. When he saw Biana, he bit his lip.

"Is she...okay?" His voice was shaky.

Fitz simply shrugged. To be honest, he didn't even know. She hadn't responded to any of Elwin's medicine, and even though he tried to hide it, Fitz could see that he was worried.

"Come on guys. Let's go see what the parents want." Linh walked out. Dex and Fitz followed her, though Tam stayed where he was. He looked heartbroken.

"You'll join us later right?" Fitz felt like Tam needed to be on his own for a bit.

Tam nodded.

"Okay."

"What were you all thinking?" Alden paced back and forth in his office.

Della was sitting in the corner, quiet. Fitz wasn't sure if she was angry at them or just sad.

"Dad, we didn't do anything wrong! Do you think this is our fault?"

"You should have contacted us the second things went wrong! We would have come back right away." Alden glared at Fitz.

Linh stepped forwards. "It isn't his fault. We panicked."

"Hey guys?" Dex spoke up. "Where's Keefe?"

"He's probably still at Candleshade." replied Fitz.

"Oh." Dex nodded.

Alden ignored Dex and turned to Linh. "I know. But you all acted irresponsibly. You should have -"

Fitz cut his father off. "Contacted you, we get it. But would it really have changed anything? That girl obviously has more power than we thought. She kidnapped Sophie and attacked Biana in less than a week. For all we know, she could have spies hidden everywhere."

Alden sighed. "Look, I get it. You guys are young and stupid. But you should have been responsable young adults."

"Dad! Just stop! You know very well that IT WOULD NOT HAVE CHANGED ANYTHING!" Fitz stood up and walked out of his father's office.

Ugh. They don't get anything. He just keeps saying that we should be responsable. As if he would have acted differently.

Fitz went up to his room. He was so fed up with all of this. Keefe and Biana has betrayed them, Sophie could be dead for all they knew, and his parents were acting like they knew everything.

Sophie could be dead. Those four words repeated themselves in his mind. Sophie. Dead. His cognate.

She's not dead. He repeated it over and over again. He would not lose hope. It had only been a few days, Charlotte wouldn't...

And Biana...She was unconscious. What if...

No. Stop.

Fitz pushed the dark thought into a corner of his mind.

"Fitz?" A quiet voice came from outside. Linh.

She knocked softly. "Can I come in?"

Fitz opened the door. "Sure."

Linh came in. She sat down on his bed.

"You should stop taking out your frustration on other people."

Fitz shrugged. He knew that it was wrong, but he couldn't help it.

"I talked with Della earlier. I really don't want to make you more miserable but..."

Fitz raised his head to look at her. She was so beautiful. "Tell me."

"Della told me that Grady and Edaline didn't come back."

"What?!"

Linh looked down. "She said that they disappeared."

"I can't take this." He sat down besides her.

"Fitz..."

He looked at her. Her eyes were filled with sadness. Right now, Fitz felt like she was the only person that truly understood him.

Then, it happened. Linh leaned in and pressed her lips against his. At first, Fitz didn't react, shocked, but after half a second, he kissed her back.

Her lips were soft. She pulled away and blushed, looking embarrassed. Before he could recover from shock, she ran out of his room.

Linh kissed me. Linh kissed me. Linh kissed me.

And I kissed her back.

Fitz sat there, confused. His brain was going to explode from all the questions.

Why did she kiss me? Does she like me? Is she just a friend? Why did I kiss her back?

For some reason, he felt... happy. By it didn't make sense. Linh was only a friend to him. Like sure, she was gorgeous, sweet, caring, brave, incredible...

Okay. Maybe she wasn't just a friend.

He had never realized that he liked her in that way. Fitz had always though that he had feeling for someone else, but now he wasn't so sure.

Fitz flopped onto his bed and sighed. Why did she have to run off like that? He would have liked to talk with her. Ask her why she did that.

For the first time in the past few days, he wasn't thinking about Sophie. He wasn't thinking about Charlotte or Biana either.

The one and only thing on his mind was Linh. And that kiss.

One little action had messed up his mind. One kiss.

I thought I had a crush on Sophie. But after that kiss, I'm not sure of anything.

A/N: Bet none of you saw that coming! Btw, in the last chapter, I left you guys on a cliffhanger. Who called Sophie's same? Whoever guesses right first get a shoutout and gets to dare me to do something. Good luck!
