She moved silently in the shadows, she stalked her prey as she moved along. She watched as he also stalked his prey, a beautiful young woman. But to her surprise another appeared which caused her to growl in anger, she crouched down and leaped at the new man knocking her prey from his hands. She landed on her feet, her dark eyes scanning his blue eyes, any opening she could use.
"You're not human." She hissed at him.
"From what it seems neither are you." He said to her, she smiled an almost evil smile as she grabbed her prey and sank her teeth into his neck, she let the now dead body fall to the ground as she licked her lips.
"I wonder how you taste."
"You won't get that chance." He said reaching out for her, she ducked and slammed her shoulder into his ribs knocking him to the ground, she straddled him as she held him place.
"You're strong." He pointed out.
"Yes and so are you, how long has she been dead? That you now move silent in the night finding those that did the same to her."
"How?"
"Your thoughts betray you Kal-El." She said backing away from him, he stood and looked at her.
"Do you have a name?"
"Centries ago I was Princess Katherine until that monster came into my chambers to claim me as his own. He took from me what he had no right."
"Don't you do the same?"
"I only take those that deserve to die."
"Who leaves it up to you?"
"You give them to the police and they return to the street in a few days. I bypass that. I need to feed, I only kill when I feed and only then. Many are left to continue on their path, your friends to stop them."
"And I do what I can."
"It seems not enough. You have friends I have seen them."
"I know." He answered, he looked at her and her pale skin.
"You wonder what I am?"
"I do. You seem to know I am not human and after what you just did I know your not."
"I was human once, almost thirteen hundred years ago, but no longer, an undead, a vampire. Changed centuries ago. But your not human either."
"I never was, and if you know who I am then you know that."
"I do. But it seems more humans need your help, I must find myself one more for my meal and then I must return to my slumber for a few hours."
Katherine watched him head to the roof where the signal was coming from, she knew he valued friendship. He took to the air and disappeared into the night. Katherine turned and saw her next prey, he had a young woman pinned to a wall.
"Run child." Katherine said grabbing the man by the arm.
"Oh you think you can stop me." He laughed.
"I know I can. Now go child he will never hurt anyone again."
The young woman nodded and tore off away from her, Katherine looked into the eyes of the man before her.
"Run." She said with a smile.
"I don't run from woman."
"Your choice, I sometimes prefer the sport, but if a quick death is what you want then granted."
"Bitch." He said slapping her, she pinned him to the wall, only one hand holding his now surprised form in place. She leaned forward and smiled, her fangs now showing, his scream now heard.
"You chose your death, you would have done things to that young woman that she would have never told anyone. I rid the streets of those like you." She sank her fangs into his neck and drank him dry before letting his body fall to the ground at her feet.
"Another to clean up my lady?"
"The last for the night. Be sure his body is not found. I will not have my existence known by anothers. You nearly got me caught the last time."
"My apologies my lady. You know I live to only serve you, as has my entire family line."
"You have been so faithful my dear Sebastian. Maybe you will share my bed this evening. But we must be off before someone does see us."
"You mean like me?"
"Ah, Bruce Wayne." She said turning and facing him.
"Clark said you knew."
"I do, was there something important you needed? I am tired and the sun is almost up."
"I do not mean to keep you your highness."
"Funny. What do you want?"
"To keep you from getting killed."
"I've had thirteen hundred years of practice, I believe I am fine." Katherine said looking toward her driver, she walked toward her car.
"Leave it alone Bruce. And I would advise your young friend to stay out of my way."
"Why?"
"I feed as I choose and will not have someone tell me otherwise. I have not killed more than I need to sustain me. I could kill hundreds if I chose to but I don't."
"And for that I am grateful."
"I will be on my way Bruce." Katherine said climbing into the large black car. Its windows blacked out in the rear, he watched as the dark haired man climbed in the drivers seat and pulled away, leaving a confused Bruce standing there.
