Katherine stood and dressed as she heard him move up behind her. She felt him wrap his arms around her waist and kissed her neck.
"Your skin is cold."
"It normally is. It's very rare when my skin is warm.."
"It was warm yesterday."
"I had fed. It happens from time to time. I have had cold skin since I was changed."
"Was he an ancient as well?"
"He had lived well over 3000 years by the time he made me."
"Does he still live?"
"No."
"How was he killed?" Clark asked her as he kissed her neck.
"I killed him. The one sure way to kill an ancient vampire is to cut off their head."
"Why?" He asked her.
"He was a great deal worse than I could ever be. More death and destruction came from him than it ever did from me."
"I guess. When would you like to leave?"
"I should go now."
"Alright, then I will take you, give me a moment." He said stepping in another room.
"So do you keep it hung in there?"
"Not normally no, but we have been rather busy." Clark said with a smile, Katherine smiled back. A genuine smile, something she had not done in centuries. Clark picked Katherine up and took off into the sky off the balcony.
"Where to?"
"Grittiest side of town. Less likely for people to notice the dead."
"Alright." He told her, he knew where she meant, over to the side of town he had first met her. He landed on the ground and set her down.
"I'll wait up there." Clark said pointing to the closest rooftop. Katherine nodded and headed to find her first kill of the night. Clark stayed close, he wanted to keep a close eye on her especially with what had happened the last few times. Katherine found her first, as typical attacking a young woman. But to her surprise it wasnt a young woman but a young man. She grabbed the arm of the larger man and pulled him back, he spun and drove something into her, she stumbled backwards falling against the wall, she pushed herself away from the wall her vision swimming. Hands reached out from a door she didn't see grabbing her around the waist and a cloth over her mouth and nose holding it there until she went limp.
Clark looked down from where he had been standing and noticed he had lost sight of her, he noticed movement of several people and decided to check it out. Anger was written on his face when he realized what had happened. They tried to pull away with Katherine in their truck when he grabbed the back and lifted it.
"Going somewhere?"
"No sir."
"Then give her to me and you can be on your way."
"She is one of our kind."
"You're human. Give her to me." He said as he pulled the door off the truck and reached inside. Once he had her in his arms he looked at them.
"Inform your master if he tries again, he will be dealing with me. Once I know she is strong enough we will find you, maybe I will let her end you herself. She will be angry enough. Now get out of here." He said letting go of the truck. He looked down at Katherine, he could see she would be unconscious for a while, he lifted her better into his arms and headed into the sky. He would have to call Bruce and get her blood that it way, it seemed until they were able to get rid of the threat she was not safe enough to go out. But he could tell that when she woke she would be angry, he just hoped it wouldn't be too bad.
