Clark was determined to learn as much about Katherine as he could, in the last two weeks she had been gone often but he had to admit the unusual deaths had stopped. There was a knock at the door, Clark looked up and sighed and answered.
"Come in Bruce." He said opening the door and walking away.
"I see Katherine is out again."
"I know she told me she would be. It seems that one of the clans has stepped out of line."
"How so?"
"Go in my room." Clark said motioning for the room, Bruce looked at him oddly but walked to the bedroom and opened the door.
"Why is there a child in your bed?"
"She is the reason Kat isnt here."
"Kat?"
"What? Anyway, one of the clans attacked her family instead of leaving the children alive, this girl was brought the edge of death."
"She.was changed?"
"No, but Kat fears she may have to change her to save her. Her heart is strong. I told her if I felt she was doing alright I would take her to the hospital."
"And is she?"
"As best I can tell yes."
"I will take her to the hospital, as long as she is human I want to give her the chance to remain that way."
"Alright."
"Here are some books Diana found on Katherine from one of the museums she finds artifacts for."
"Really?"
"She borrowed it. Try not to ruin."
"I'll be careful with it. Thank you, let me know how the child is." Clark said taking the book. Bruce carried the young girl from the apartment leaving Clark alone with the book. He placed the book on the table in front of him and opened it.
"Wow." He said as the pictures before him were paintings that had been done a long time ago, her looks were the same. Her long hair, those almost memorizing black and gold eyes.
"Never did me justice." Katherine said kissing his cheek.
"They saw you as a god."
"That they did."
"Who's that?" He asked of the figure next to her.
"Nikolas, a hundred years and different continent before I cursed him."
"You never changed at all."
"Didn't do any good. Anytime I would cut my hair it would grow back, so I left it alone. What made you decide you wanted to learn more?"
"You became their queen, I wanted to learn more about you."
"You could have asked." She said sitting down next to him. She lifted the book and looked at the cover.
"Where did you get this?"
"Bruce brought it over, Diana borrowed it from one of the museums she has been working at. Why?"
"I've never seen anything with this much information. I didnt even know one existed. This has everything."
"All of it?"
"Everything. Let me see it."
"Sure." He said handing it to her. She opened the book to the beginning, it was an entire mythology on the Demon Goddess Katherine. From her birth until they lost track of her in the 15th century.
"Demon goddess?" Clark asked.
"I was a demon, I am a demon. I was born in the year 756 AD. The only daughter to a war chief. My marriage was planned to combine to clans and making peace. We didn't find peace, Nikolas decided he wanted me instead of the man I was given to and he killed his way through several clans to find the one he wanted and his eyes became set on me."
"War chief?"
"I am from Ireland, a long past Ireland, I have seen the rise and fall of kingdoms and their rulers. I have seen wars caused by those that feel they should rule the world. I saw your friend Diana during the first World War, she is special, and unlike myself, she is the child of a god. I am a demon. Does she know this?"
"Who you are? I have no idea. I would guess she would if she sent this book over."
"Continue your reading, you will learn allot. I am going go take a shower."
"Alright, I'll take a look at this I might join you."
"I'd like that." Katherine said, she leaned down and kissed him and then headed into the next room. Clark looked at the book, he was surprised by everything that was written in the book, but for her to open up about all of it. He heard a noise and looked up, thinking she had decided to come back into the room. He looked to see several men standing on the balcony, Clark stood and moved forward only for them to attack him at once knocking him to the ground.
"Now let's see if our queen truly loves you." One said to him, Clark tried to push them off of him but they seemed stronger than any of the others he has dealt with. One hit him and he fell to the floor unconscious.
"Get him out of here. Take him to the building."
"She will kill us all."
"She wants him to live she won't."
Katherine walked out of the bathroom, she was drying off her hair as she headed for the livingroom where she had left Clark. The book lay on the floor, and he was no where to be seen. She inhaled and smelled a change in the room, she growled as she turned and went to get dressed, someone would die by her hand. She turned and looked and saw the sun was starting to come up, since her three month sleep she is still trying to regulate being out in the sun again.
"Damn it." She said closing the curtains. She called Clark's boss telling him she was Clark's girlfriend and he was sick. Good thing for her he bought the lie.
