Clark looked over at Katherine, he watched her as she slept. He had just returned home from the paper. He felt like there was an extra person in the room.
"I mean no disrespect my king."
"Joshua?"
"I needed to be near mother."
"She sent you to your home for a reason. How did you even know she lived here?"
"I followed mother home one night."
"You can't be here when she wakes." Clark said to him. Joshua looked at him, his deep green eyes seemed to almost glow.
"I feel she isn't safe."
"She is plenty safe. Now leave before she wakes." Clark said, a little more force in his voice. Joshua moved forward and grabbed Clark by the throat and lifted up and looked in his eyes.
"Mother deserves better. But she loves you. And the clans follow you. But Erik was right, if she can't rule with one of her own, then maybe we could make him one."
"Put him down Joshua." Katherine said standing.
"No." He said looking at her. She could see the defiance in his eyes, he held Clark and tightened his grip. Katherine let out a low growl as she moved forward toward Joshua, he threw Clark and dove at her. Katherine grabbed him by the throat and growled, she held him against the wall, as she spoke something in Latin, Bruce landed on the balcony as he watched what happening.
"We need to stop her." Clark said standing.
"Isnt that her newest child?"
"Yes and he just betrayed her."
"Oh boy. You might just want to back up, there is no stopping her at this point."
"Something has to do it."
"No, he betrayed her and now he will suffer the consequences of that betrayal."
"Katherine." Clark said moving toward her. Katherine held Jobshua by the throat against the wall, she turned and cast her eyes toward him, her normally dark eyes were now a deep red. Clark momentarily took a step back surprised. He walked forward and placed placed his hand on her shoulder. Katherine turned to him, her eyes almost had a wild look to them, Bruce knew if he didn't stop her she could kill Clark. She slammed her hand into Joshua's chest and pulled out his heart.
"Your punishment for betraying me." She hissed dropping his body, she turned fully to Clark, her hands and most of the front of her clothes were covered in blood.
"Katherine, stop. I don't want to hurt you."
"You could never hurt me." She almost laughed at him.
"You can stop her without killing her."
"Ah Bruce, there have been so many times I wanted to end your life." She said turning and moving to him, she pinned him to the wall. Katherine moved her hand over the exposed part of his face before pulling his cowl off, she looked into his eyes.
"Such guilt in your heart. You still hold the guilt for getting Clark killed, for him being gone and this world falling apart. Even your Amazon friend tried to make you see it wasn't your fault."
"You don't know that."
"I do, you are like an open book Bruce. Vengeance was the reason you became Batman, now you feel its because you need to keep Gothem safe. Yet I was killing lowlifes faster than you could send them to jail."
"You haven't in a long time your highness. And you know this, when you nearly got caught you stopped killing more than you needed to feed."
"And yet you still feel that you should be my concencense. I have one Thank you. 2200 years Bruce, I always say over 1300 but its 2252 years I have walked this earth, never have I met anyone that was like you." Katherine growled at him. Clark walked up behind her, he wasn't sure what to do, he knew he couldn't and wouldn't kill her. Katherine spun and faced Clark, she released Bruce and walked closer to Clark. She stopped in front of him, she ran her fingers over his face, slowly moving them over his lips, he looked into her eyes wondering if she was still in there or was she now her anger. Bruce walked up behind her in a quick movement broke her neck, Katherine fell to the floor in a heap.
"Bruce."
"She's not dead. Let's clean the mess and as much as you hate this we need to take her to my place I have a room we can keep her in."
"She's not an animal Bruce."
"She just lost control, at the moment that is exactly what she is. You need to look beyond the love you have for her, you need to see that this betrayal may have caused her to snap, no she will not remain that way but it won't change right away. When she comes around she will be angry and will want to kill and even if she is mad at me she won't care who she kills."
"I am not locking her away like an animal."
"Then what do you suggest, her body will mend itself and when she wakes she will be pissed."
"I will deal with her. Let's get this done."
"Clark, it will be safer than a blood thirsty vampire on a rampage."
"Fine." Clark said lifting her into his arms.
"Lead the way." He said to him. Bruce had him follow him back to the hanger, there was a large room he brought them into it.
"Are you sure it will hold her?"
"Yes. But the chains are to be sure." Bruce said leading him to the chains, Clark lay her on the floor and watched as Bruce chained Katherine's wrists and ankles.
"Let's go." He said having Clark follow him. Clark had no intention of returning home until he could bring Katherine there, but he did know he had to clean the mess.
"I have to clean the apartment."
"I already sent a crew to deal with it. She will be unconscious for a while."
"Yeah and if she comes around normal this will piss her off."
"I already thought about that."
"Alright."
