A Hero's Dilemma

Losing sight of her, he noticed movement of several people and decided to check it out. Anger was written on his face when he realized what had happened. They tried to pull away with Katherine in their truck when he grabbed the back and lifted it.
"Going somewhere?"
"No sir." One answered his voice laced with fear, he wanted nothing to do with angering Superman.
"Then give her to me and you can be on your way."
"She is one of our kind."
"You're human. Give her to me." He said as he pulled the door off the truck and reached inside. Once he had her in his arms he looked at them. Even when he held her in his arms, they climbed from the truck, one held out a green stone causing Clark to nearly drop her. But he kept his grip on her as he backed up.
"Inform your master if he tries again, he will be dealing with me. Once I know she is strong enough we will find you, maybe I will let her end you herself. She will be angry enough. Now get out of here." He told them. He looked down at Katherine, he could see she would be unconscious for a while, he lifted her better into his arms and headed into the sky. He needed get as far from them as possible. He would have to call Bruce and get her blood that way, it seemed until they were able to get rid of the threat she was not safe enough to go out. But he could tell that when she woke she would be angry, he just hoped it wouldn't be too bad. He landed on the balcony of his apartment and opened the sliding door and walked inside, he turned and closed it and pulled his curtains closed. He lay her on the bed, she looked peaceful he knew that wasn't going to last. He turned and grabbed his phone and called Bruce to let him know he was going to need several bags of blood if he had them, when asked why he explained Katherine had been attacked and left it at that.
Clark sat and waited, he didn't want her to wake up alone, finally he decided to lay with her, he held her close and just waited for her to wake.
Katherine began to stir and Clark looked down at her, he moved her hair and waited for her to open her eyes.
"Hey. You ok?" He asked her.  Katherine opened her eyes and looked at him.
"Yeah,  I feel stupid. I have lived centuries and I am getting sloppy."
"No they are getting sneaky, Bruce is going to bring some blood over for you."
"I figured he might. Are you afraid of losing me already?"
"Katherine, I want the chance to show you someone can love you, and that means not losing you."
"Clark, I will have to face them, find out who it was that ordered this. The amount of blood that was wanted. It would have sustained more than just a few vampires. I want to know why."
"Then we find out together."
"I'll agree to that."
"Good because I wasn't letting you go anywhere alone again."
"I have a suspicion who is doing this."
"Who?"
"He was changed by my creator, after I was. I think he is angry with me because he was never given the chance to become an elder vampire because my creator never gave him that power. It was his choice who he shared that with not mine."
"Is that how you became an elder vampire?"
"That and how long I have been alive. The vampire that is doing this is maybe seven hundred years old. I was over six hundred years old when he was created and I killed our creator shortly after he was changed."
"Because he was changed for a selfish reason. Spite."
"Spite?"
"He had become angry with me because I felt I was old enough I didn't need him any longer. He changed Damion, a man I cared deeply for."
"And because of that you killed your creator after losing a man you cared for."
"Yes and now as the spoiled child he is he wants what I have. As an elder vampire I am able to go out in the sun he can't no matter his age."
"If you want help with him I will stand by you. I won't kill anyone."
"You won't have to, I will deal with that."
"Alright." He said. She could hear some reluctance in his voice it went against everything he was.
