Clark felt her move, he opened his eyes and noticed the sun had come up, he stood and moved toward the window and covered it with a couple dark blankets and came back over to the bed.
"Sorry about that."
"I'm fine. My age has one advantage, the sun won't kill me, hurt like hell but won't kill me."
"Still don't want that." He said to her, he reached over and turned on the light.
"Why do you care?"
"Why not?"
"I have seen do many things over the centuries, those I have loved grow old and die."
"Have you changed any?"
"Not as many as you would think."
"Really?"
"Yeah, what I am is a curse and I did not want to share it with anyone." Katherine told him. Clark looked at her, he moved her hair from her face as he looked at her.
"So you spend so much time alone."
"As do you. Especially since her death."
"I can't handle to lose someone else."
Katherine touched his face as she sat up, her dark heart broke knowing someone like him would live his life alone.
"But you keep even your friends away from your heart."
"Yes, they are my friends and I can't handle another loss. My mom is the only other person I care about. But don't you do the same? Even if you are immortal you keep everyone at bay."
"I do, but I keep it that way due to what I am, not because I am afraid of losing them, because I know I will lose them."
Clark looked at her and sighed.
"Will you be leaving this evening?"
"If you wish me to I will."
"You can stay for as long as you like." He told her, Katherine smiled and stood, she walked toward the large window and slid the blanket back and placed her hand in the light, Clark jumped up when her arm started to smoke.
"I don't need a demonstration of what the sun would do. Come back to the bed."
"Do you know how many times I wanted to end my existence and because I am an elder vampire I can't. I mean I can, but someone would have to do it for me."
"Katherine there is no reason for you to die."
"I have lived over 1300 years, that is allot of time to be alone."
"Then stay with me. I am not human and as such I will out live many of my friends."
"But your not immortal."
"So, stay with me. I can love you and keep you safe."
"You would stay with me over a mortal?"
"Yes, give me a chance to show you the affection you have always been seeking."
"If this is what you wish." She said looking at him. Clark pulled her back to the bed and looked into her eyes.
"I do. Stay here, live with me, give me a chance to show you love you haven't had in a long time."
Katherine nodded and leaned in and kissed him deeply. He leaned her back against the bed again and kissed her, and let his hands move over her body.
"I should rest. Tonight I need to feed."
"I will go with you." He said to her looking into her eyes.
"I could use the company, but you need to know I don't take lives kindly."
"I know I saw. Get some rest."
Katherine moved so she was laying against the pillows. She closed her eyes and relaxed, her mind running through the thoughts of Clark handling who she truly was. But that night would prove if he could handle her world, especially with his own conflicting with hers.
