We both head downstairs where the table is already being set.
"Mmm what smells so good." I ask as my nostrils are attacked by a delicious aroma.
"We're having lamb chops for dinner." says Jesse's mom.
"Oh yes!" coos Jesse from behind me.
After a few minutes we all sit down around the table. I made sure to sit next to Jesse, his mom and dad opposite us and Winter and Perez on each ends of the table.
"So Gray, tell us a little about yourself." says Jesse's dad.
"Well, I love kpop and can speak korean. I love dancing and drawing and I am an only child. Yeah that's some basic info about me." I say as I take a sip of water.
"Say something for us in korean." says Jesse's mom cheerfully.
"Okay. Na neun Bangtan Sonyeondan leul johahabnida. (I like BTS.)
"Woah, and what does that mean?" she asks.
"I like BTS." I say proudly.
"Who's BTS?" asks Perez suddenly.
I turn my head towards him with a smirk. I'm gonna turn this child into an army one day.
"BTS is a South Korean boy band that debuted in 2013. Over the course of 7 years they've released a total discography of about 30 albums, ep's, singles etc in Korean and Japanese. They-"
"Okay okay don't tell him literally everything about them." says Jesse as he rolls his eyes.
"I was only getting started." I say.
"Why do you listen to them if they only sing in Korean and Japanese?" asks Perez.
"It doesn't matter what language the song is in. As long as you like it that's all that matters. And plus you can just translate the lyrics and when you do you will find meaningful and deep lyrics speaking about important social issues that many people face. They changed my life for the better." I say sternly.
"How many people are in BTS?" asks Jesse's dad
"There are 7 members." I say.
"What are their names?" asks Jesse's mom.
I can't help it but my inner army just makes me do the fan cry with so much passion.
"Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Jeon Jungkook, BTS!" I say proudly.
"Are their names really Kim and Park and all those other names?" asks Jesse's dad.
"No, in Korea the surnames come first." I respond.
"Well anyway, what subjects did you choose?" asks Jesse's mom.
Ugh, now we're talking about school. I would've gladly kept on talking about my boys but nooo, she just had to mention something school related.
"Economics, physics, history and mandarin." I say, putting a piece of meat into my mouth.
"That's nice. Do you have any idea what you want to become one day?" she asks.
"Maybe a chemical engineer, or physicist, or an english teacher in a foreign country if those two don't work out and if that doesn't work out then a dance teacher." I say.
"Wow, sounds like you already have a plan. Jesse on the other hand can't decide what he wants to do. One day he wants to be a dentist, the next a software engineer, the next a lawyer and it just doesn't stop." complains Mrs Meyer.
