"It's about your mother." he said.

"What happened to my mom?!" I asked in a very worried tone.

"She was in a car accident and had to be rushed to hospital. Your uncle is on his way here to fetch you. I've already told your teachers that you won't be in their classes today." said Mr Phillip, the principal.

"Ok, thank you sir." I said.

"And here's your cellphone." said Mr Phillip as he took it out of the safe. "I don't want to see you with it again, do you understand me?"

"Yes sir." I said while putting it in my pocket then I left his office.

As I was walking back to the field to get my bag, tears started to form, threatening to fall. I was quite close with my mom, and I couldn't imagine a world without her.

When I got to the field, my friends saw that I was crying slightly and started asking me questions.

"What happened?" asked Tony.
"Why are you crying?" asked Levona.

"M-my mom was i-in a car accident, and she was rushed to hospital." I said as I wiped away the tears from my face.

They all gasped in unison. Suddenly I just felt everyone embracing me in a group hug, attempting to make me feel better.

"Don't worry Gray, everything will be ok." comforted Shauna.

"We're all here for you." said Layyah.

"T-thanks guys." I said. "Mr Phillip said my uncle is on his way to fetch me, i'll be gone for the rest of the day.

"Okie dokie. We'll keep your mom in our prayers." said Levona.

"Thanks guys." I say, removing myself from the group hug.

I picked up my bag and started walking away.
As I was walking away, I heard a voice call out to me. It was Jesse.

"Hey Gray, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" he asked. Did he actually ask me that right now? Why does he care?

"I'm not crying, it's just allergies." I lied.

"Oh ok." he said.

I carried on walking away. How come he asked me what's wrong? Oh well.

When I got to the office, my uncle was ready there waiting for me.

"Gray. There you are. Let's go." he said hurriedly.

We quickly walked over to his car which was parked outside the school gate. The hospital wasn't that far from my school and we made it within 5 minutes.

Eventually we found out what room she was in and started racing to her. I was so worried.

I entered the room where my mom was and when I saw her, I couldn't hold back the tears anymore.
I ran over to her bedside and started sobbing next to her. "Mother!"

"Gray. What are you doing here? You're supposed to be in school." she said, surprised. She sounded quite weak.

"How could I still be at school knowing my mother was in a car accident?" I said.

"David. Its nice to see you." she said, looking at me uncle.

"Hello Helena. How are you feeling? We were really worried about you." said my uncle.

"I'm alright now. It all happened so fast. Some idiot jumped a red light and crashed into me. He was going really fast. I don't know what happened to him though. He was also rushed to hospital." she said weakly.
