A few days later and it's that time of the term, that time that all students just loooove (note the sarcasm). Exam time.

That time where two weeks before you tell yourself you're gonna study but that never happens, the clownery lol.

That time when you study the night before for the subject you write the next day.

Well that's what most people do, me, I started studying a while before though. Mostly because I was forced to by my parentals. Ain't that peachy.

I pack my books away and get ready to leave the house and make my way to school.

My mom then enters the room wearing her work clothes, evidence she's going to work today.

"What subject are you writing today?" asks my mom.

"Economics." I state as I get up from my seat.

"Well good luck, and remember, think before you ink." she says with a smile.

"Will do." I say with a thumbs up. "Alright I'm leaving now, bye, have a good day."

"Bye Gray, I love you." she says.

"Love you too mom." I respond before walking out the door and making my way to the bus stop.

I walk into the shop where I usually go in the mornings and get my water. As I'm waiting behind someone who's at the counter already, I see a couple walk into the shop. Pretty normal looking people.

The person in from of me leaves and I move forward to pay for my water. As I'm getting my money out of my pocket, I overhear something the couple is saying.

"Don't forget we have to get our outfits for the wedding Pamela." says the male.

"Oh my word Mark, it completely slipped my mind." says the female.

Mark.

That name.

That's my dad's name.

Suddenly, I take a trip down memory lane and think about my dad, how I miss him, how I want him back with my mom and I.

"Hello? The money?" asks the shopkeeper, snapping me out of my trance.

"Right, sorry." I say before handing him the money and walking out of the shop towards the bus stop.

I sit there and continue thinking about my dad. I miss him so much. I think of the time he surprised me by fetching me after practice and other memories. A stray tear sliding down my face.

I quickly wipe it away and look up to see the bus pulling up towards the shop. Great.

I get on and sit down on my seat and my mind continues to think about my lost father.

To avoid any other tears, I decide to listen to music, to distract myself. First song on shuffle, Thumbs by Sabrina Carpenter.

I get to school and as usual, go to my homeroom, and as usual, my friends are there already. They're all busy looking over their work but still notice my presence.

We exchange greetings and I sit next to Levona before taking out my books.

"I feel like I'm gonna ace this paper." says Tony.

"Famous last words." says Levona.

Levona, Tony, Layyah and I wrote economics and Jesse is the only one that writes bio.

"I'd like to see you do better than me." says Tony to Levona.

"Watch how I get higher than both of you." says Shauna suddenly.
