chapter 19: broken heart

[continuation of chapter 18 as well as chapter 19]

It was raining quite a bit tonight.

We arrived home at 9:47pm as the concert was fairly long and we got ice cream afterwards.

As soon as we got home I went straight to my room and closed my door. I fell on my bed curled up in a ball, crying.

What I had witnessed just a few minutes prior was still quite fresh in my memory, and caused the endless rivers of tears to leave my eye sockets.

He pinned a girl against the wall.
He kissed that girl.
On the lips.
On the same day he asked me to be his boyfriend.

What reason could he have for pinning another girl against the wall and kissing her?

Why is he doing this to me? Do I deserve this? I feel like such a fool.

I didn't bother messaging him, to try and express my anger and hatred, instead I just lied there. Silently sobbing.

For a brief moment, I got a slight temptation to continue an old habit of mine from long ago, but I promised myself I wouldn't ever do it again. I quickly shook the thought out of my head and instead decided to read a book to hopefully fall asleep.

I woke up with a massive headache and caressed my head with my hand. I looked at the clock on the wall. 12:30am. I doubt I'd fall back asleep anytime soon.

My eyes were still a little glossy from the tears. Tomorrow is school so I know I would have to face him. My friends will surely notice my depressed aura and ask questions, and probably kill Jesse. He deserves it though.

I toss and turn for what feels like an eternity as I try to return to my slumber. I check the time again and it reads 1:01am. At this rate I'll maybe only get 3 or 4 hours of sleep. I continued lying there, staring at the ceiling while listening to the sound of the rain. One of my favourite sounds.

I was awakened by my mother who was shaking me, attempting to wake me up. It was working.

"Okay okay, I'm up." I say with a hoarse voice.

"Get done, you don't wanna be late." replies my mom as she walks out of the room.

I really didn't feel like getting ready for school. But then again who does?

I finished my short conversation with Daniel just before the bus came to my stop.

Even though Jesse's my boyfriend, I don't feel bad about my other dates with Ashton and Daniel. Yes you do, you don't want to hurt Jesse. You love him. No I don't! He's cheating on me!

I got onto the bus and didn't even bother looking at Tiana and walked straight to my seat. I put in my earphones and played I'M OK by iKON while the bus slowly pulled away from my stop.

I arrived at school within an hour and walked into the building. Walking to the class I was the previous morning as to avoid Jesse. It was empty. Just how I wanted.

I didn't wanna see my friends, I just wanted to be alone.

Eventually, my friends came in.

"Morning Gray." greeted my friends in unison. They chuckled slightly when they realized they all said it at the same time.

I didn't respond. The mood seemed to immediately changed as my friends expressed concern.

"Gray? You okay?" asked Levona.

I slowly raised my head up and couldn't hold in my tears. I sniffed as tears started rolling down my cheeks. My friends then immediately came to comfort me.

"Gray what's wrong? Why are you crying?" asked Levona with a hint of urgency in her voice.

There's no point in keeping it a secret.

"J-Jesse i-is... ch-cheating on m-me." is what I managed to say between sobs.

"Wait WHAT?!" shouted Levona.

"Woah woah woah. What do you mean cheating on you?" asked Tony.

"After m-my performance last night, I went l-looking for him. *sniffle* So I went to the dressing rooms and saw him pinning a girl against the wall and kissing her." I say.

"WHAT THE FRICK! That bitch!" shouts Layyah.

"Layyah, come with me." says Levona coldly.

Before Layyah could respond, Levona dragged her out of the room.

"Wait, where's Shauna?" I ask as I wipe my nose.

"Oh, she said she's with a friend." replies Tony.

"Ok." I respond and wipe the tears away.

Levona's POV:

Layyah and I were searching the school for Shauna and then the three of us were going to “have a chat” with Jesse.

We eventually found her inside a classroom with some boy we don't know.

"Hey guys, sorry to disturb, but Shauna, you need to come with us. now." I said.

She seemed to get the message and said goodbye to the boy and came with us.

"So what is the big issue?" asked Shauna confusedly.

"Long story short, Jesse is cheating on Gray." said Layyah bitterly.

"WHAT?!" yelled Shauna in disbelief.

"Yup, and we're gonna teach him a lesson." I said.

We eventually found him standing by his locker alone.

"Oh, hey guys, what's u-" *slap* "OW, what was that for?!" he asked as he put his hand up to the part on his face that I slapped.

"Why are you cheating on Gray, what did he ever do to you?!" yelled Levona.

"You rotten slimeball." said Shauna as she took out her recorder and hit him on his head. Recorders are very sore.

"OWWW! STOP IT!" he shouted.

"Give us a reason to." said Layyah as she twisted his arm and spun him around, making him whine in pain.

"Okay I will, just let me go jeez!" he said frantically.

Layyah eventually released his arm and he turned to face us.

"So I'm sure the reason you think I'm cheating on him is because Gray told you I kissed that girl last night. Well I can explain."

"You have 2 minutes." I said as I narrowed my eyes.

Gray's POV:

A few minutes passed and Levona, Layyah and Shauna came storming into the class.

"Gray, you need to let Jesse explain why he kissed that girl last night." said Layyah.

"No, I never wanna talk to him again!" I responded.

"Gray, just do it." said Levona.

I just looked at all of them and they all shot me a very concerned expression. I knew I had to let him at least explain, but what possible reason could he have for kissing another girl, while we are dating?
