Zak POV

I leaned on the locked door and slowly slid down until I was sitting. I put my head in my hands and felt tear run down my face.

I don't even know how long it's been. It feels like it's been months, but it might've been a few days. I'm getting low on food too, am I going to die when I run out?

I did one wrong thing because I thought I could get away with it. I thought they wouldn't catch me, but they did. Of course they did, people say everyone gets caught. But you don't know for sure, because if someone gets caught you'd never know.

I hate this world, they call it perfect, but I could give a whole list of flaws. But no matter how much I hate it, it doesn't change the fact that I messed up, and now I'm here.

There's absolutely nothing in this room. There's only a supply of food and water in the corner. In another corner there's a small bathroom. There's a toilet, sink, and shower. The shower only works sometimes though, there's no specific time. There is no furniture at all and there aren't any windows. There's a door, it doesn't open though, I've tried everything.

I tried picking the lock, pushing it open, and even running at it, seeing if it would open, nothing worked. I've gotten seriously hurt while being in here and no one came, they don't care about me, they just throw you in a room and never pay attention to you again.

I have nothing to go back to at home. My family and friends think I'm a disgrace, because they're brainwashed into believing the governments lies. Maybe there are people out there who did get away with their mistakes and will come help me.

I doubt it.

I feel like I'm going crazy and the only thing keeping me sane are my thoughts and hopes.

"I feel so alone." I muttered into the silence.

I heard a noise from behind me, the other side of the door, "Hello? Is someone there?"

Dave POV

I heard noises coming from the other side of my door.

Stop it Dave, it's just your imagination.

Suddenly I heard someone say, "I feel so alone."

I whipped around, towards the door. I put my hands against the metal and said, "Hello? Is someone there?"

There was no reply.

I said and thought, you're going crazy.

But suddenly the voice replied, "Yes, hello? I'm here."

Their voice was soft and it sounded like they were crying.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He replied, "Are you captured?"

"Yeah, yeah, I am." I replied.

"How can I be sure?" They asked.

"There's no way I can prove it, but you need to trust me." I said.

"How long have you been here?" He asked.

"I'm not sure." I said, "Maybe a month?"

"Oh," They said, "I don't know how long I've been here anymore."

He sounded upset so I changed the subject, "What's your name?"

"Zak." He replied, "How about you?"

"I'm Dave." I said, "Do you think we'll be able to get out?"

"No." He said plainly, "There's no way out."

"How do you know?" I asked.

"It's hopeless." He said with a sob, "We're all just going to die here."

"No, there has got to be a way out." I said hopefully.

"I'm low on food and water." He said, "One day I'm going to run out and die."

I sighed at his stubbornness, "Can't you have a little faith?"

"Faith kills you."
