15 - Jackson

Jackson's POV

It had been just over a year since I had left, I never even told her I was going - I was a coward, scared at the idea of her choosing him over me but even more so terrified at the thought that she would pick me, I had no idea what I was doing, I was a screw up - she deserved so much better.

From what I understood she was getting her happy ever after now though, I have kept in touch with Seb of course - not only is he my best friend but we are in business together, so there were weekly conference calls for business and we spoke a few time a week outside of that for other stuff. I couldn't help but ask about her when we spoke, the most recent one making me realise I had done the right thing by walking away from her,

"How is she?"

"She's good Jax, she is really good, happy"

"Is he treating her right?"

"Man he worships the ground she walks on, she's pregnant again Jax - baby number 3"

"Shit they aren't mucking around"

"Nah, but they make some good looking kids so I guess I can't blame them"

"I'm glad she happy brother, how are you doing? How's it going with Kira?"

Seb has been seeing a girl for just over 6 months - it had been the first actual relationship he had been in for a long time and he seemed really hung up on her.

I sat quietly at the bar, pulling my phone out of my pocket I opened my social media page and searched her name, the latest image was updated only 3 days ago - Scarlett was standing with Carson who had one arm wrapped around her holding her to him, the other pressed against her stomach, her hands were placed on top of his resting on her belly, her eyes locked onto his hand and he was looking at her face, the baby - Mya - was in a baby rocker in front of them and Logan was next to her - holding a small chalkboard with white writing announcing they were expecting.
I zoomed in on the image - enlarging the shot of Scarlett - she looked incredible - healthy, ridiculously happy and very much in love it was easy to see it was mirrored in the way Carson was looking at her.

"She's pretty, ex-girlfriend"

I turned to face the direction on the voice, surprised at the gorgeous woman standing next to me, she had long dark hair almost black, her skin was a beautiful chestnut brown, her eyes were a beautiful dark brown that matched her hair, she had a small nose and pink full lips, she was tall - I'm guessing 5ft10 and her body was incredible,

"It's too complicated to talk about actually, I'm Jax"

"Shay"

"Can I get you a drink Shay?"

"That sounds great, I'll have a beer please"

I spent the rest of the night talking to the magnificent woman, Shay was a Doctor though she could be a supermodel with her stunning figure and gorgeous face, she happened to be at the bar tonight on a blind date a couple of her friends had set her up on but the guy didn't show. She was funny, smart and really, really fucking sexy. It was easy to get lost in the hours we spent talking.

"Oh my goodness, it's almost 3am, I really should be going Jax" she stood from her seat

"Yeah ok" I smiled at her as I stood directly in front of her, "Can I see you again Shay?"

She nodded her head, biting her bottom lip as she put her information into my phone,

"It was really nice meeting you Jax" she slipped the phone into the back pocket of my jeans and pressed her lips softly against mine, "I'll see you soon"

I didn't try to hide the fact I was checking her out as she walked away, her hips swaying back and forth, she flipped her hair over her shoulder and turned giving me one last smile before she climbed into the taxi, it wasn't even out of sight before I was texting her locking in a date with her for the day after tomorrow - shit if I hadn't of had a meeting I would have asked her to go out with me tomorrow - but this meeting was the final negotiations for the place I had been after for almost 3 months and I wasn't going to risk losing this guy now I had him on the line.

Dating Shay was easy, everything with her seemed simple, even with the long distance we some times had to endure while I was travelling for work - lucky her work was 7 on 7 off so when she was off she would try and fly to wherever I was at the time, I in turn tried to get back to her as much as I could, when Seb got engaged and announced the date for his wedding I talked to her about returning home, then I asked her to come with me and she said yes.
The plan was when we went back for Seb's wedding I would go into Stilton Corporation and run things while he was away on his honeymoon, with Scarlett still on reduced hours after having baby number three - I needed to be there and Shay was going to look for an apartment for us to live in to and approach some of the local hospitals.

It wasn't until the day of Seb's wedding that I doubted anything I had with Shay, but the moment her eyes met mine I was that 17 year old boy in love with his best friends little sister, but the  fact she couldn't return my smile and the way she looked at Carson it nearly ripped my heart right out of my chest.
