Fear. We've all experienced fear- it's what makes us human. It drives us to either run or fight, to live or die.

Living on the orbiting space station with the ruthless council was the thing that always lingered on Reyna's mind. And as much as she hated to admit it, Reyna was afraid- she had always been. Of the chancellors, their advisors, guards and most of all, death.

The thoughts of her death always swam in Reyna's head, the possibility of her being thrown out of the ship just because of a thing that made her different. That thing being the color of her blood. The blood that would normally be crimson, was black instead. How she got the blood was still a mystery to Reyna, but her mother had it as well. She just figured she inherited it from her, but that was all she could figure and she was told not to ask questions. She was told to stay quiet about it, her mother had always told her that the blood was not usual, that the others would see it as threat, and Reyna knew what that meant so she never spoke a word about it. To protect herself, and her mother as well.

Unfortunately she couldn't change the fate written for her mother, she couldn't stop the man that attacked her in the medical wing. She couldn't stop the guards from taking her, Jaha from executing her.

It seemed like her world had fallen apart that day, that moment her mother was floated into space to die. She never knew a person could feel such pain, before she felt it herself. And she wished she never leaned how it felt. She wished she never had to experience the constant ache in her heart, the longing for something, someone, that she would never get to see again. She didn't know how to cope, for she had never lost someone she loved so dearly. The only way for her to cope was to visit the places she used to with her mother. Such as the window they used to sit before, gazing upon planet Earth, talking about how wonderful life would've been down there. Reyna could only imagine.

She visited the library as well, her mother loved to read, Reyna did too. From the first time she read a book, Reyna found a different kind of love for them. Not really love, more solace, peace, when she read about the stories written in the ancient pages. She liked how she could let her imagination flow while reading, liked to imagine a whole different world, someone else's world. A world she wasn't in, but wanted to be in. She was told she lived in her imagination way too many times by her father. She didn't know if it was a bad thing. Her world bored her, so she would imagine another one of her own. The monotony of everyday life and the endless drone of problems was draining Reyna slowly, and as older as she got the more problems she started having. The more difficult they got. Her imagination was her way of coping with it, or her taking a break from reality.
