It was long past dark, and the hundred were still building defenses. Everywhere, gunners stood guard, scanning the woods for threats as Bellamy supervised the laying of landmines. He mapped the fuel as Raven and Jasper buried one nearby.

Reyna was watching the woods with a rifle held tightly in her hands. Her knuckles had turned white and that feeling in her chest wouldn't leave. That feeling of grueling fear. One that had buried itself so deep nothing could make it vanish. Not the painful grip she had. Not distracting herself with her task. Not biting her lip until it bled. Three of her friends were lost somewhere on this wretched Earth. The enemy had taken them. Had them locked away. Or worse.

The wish to look for them grew stronger with every hour that passed. Every minute they spent out there made it more likely they were lost forever. She couldn't let that happen.

Clarke. Finn. Monty. Their names rushed through her mind, one after the other, then again and again. Her friends. All that mattered was keeping them safe. Keeping them out of harm's way. How could she have let Monty wander off all by himself? How could she have let it get this far?

Reyna was on the brink of just taking off into the night when a sigh sounded from behind her. An all too familiar one.

Bellamy moved to stand beside her, but Reyna didn't want to look at him. Couldn't. If she did, she didn't know what she would do. The anger towards him burned bright inside her, grew stronger with every second she wasn't on a search for Clarke, Finn and Monty, "What do you want?"

"I just wanted to apologize." He started. "I know how much you want to go look for them, and trust me I do too."

"If you want to go so bad, why the hell are we still here?" She huffed in annoyance, her frustration evident on her face.

"Because we can't lose anyone else, Reyna." He answered. "We need to keep everyone in camp, as long as possible until we know for sure it's safe to go look for Monty, Clarke and Finn."

"Why don't you just let me?" Finally, she turned to face him. Her emotions ran free, her eyes glinting with every ounce of dread, her voice pleading, "I can go alone, I know how to take care of myself."

"I can't let you go out there right now, it's too dangerous." He said and took a deep breath.

Reyna scowled and turned her head away from him. Her grip on the rifle grew tighter, her fingers squeezing it as hard as they could, "If they don't show up soon, you won't be able to stop me from leaving."
