SAPPHIRE POV
"Sapphire, you're finally here," Adonis said, his smile warm as he reached for my bags. I returned the smile, my eyes scanning the space. His house was simple but charming, with a cozy vibe that immediately put me at ease.
"I like your house," I told him, trying to distract myself from the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside me. "It's simple and it looks great."
Adonis grinned. "I'm glad you like it. Make yourself at home."
We settled on the couch, the silence between us comfortable but heavy with unspoken thoughts. Adonis turned to me, his expression suddenly serious. "So, does Logan know you're here?"
I shook my head, anxiety creeping in as I sat down beside him. "No... I snuck out. He's going to be pissed when he finds out I left." My voice wavered, and the fear I had been holding back began to surface. "Do you think this is a bad idea? Maybe I should go back. But then he'll start treating me bad again. Oh God, I'm scared. What have I done? I should've told him about the babies. He's going to think—"
Adonis quickly interrupted, placing a calming hand on my shoulder. "Shush, Sapphire. Calm down. Even if he finds out, he won't be able to hurt you. I'll be here, your knight in shining armor," he said, trying to lighten the mood.
I managed a small giggle, though the fear still lingered. "You're right. I should stay calm. Maybe he won't find me."
Adonis nodded, his expression softening. "Come on, let me see your bump. I haven't seen them in a week," he mumbled, his voice filled with excitement.
I lifted my shirt, revealing the small curve of my growing belly. Adonis placed his hand gently on the bump, his touch warm and comforting.
"Hey, it's me again, your Uncle Adonis," he said softly, his voice filled with affection. "Don't give Mommy any trouble, okay? I can't wait until you guys are here. I'll be the best uncle ever. I'll be the one to spoil you, you know? Like good cop, bad cop. Your mommy will be the one to give you timeouts."
I smiled, my heart swelling with a mix of emotions. "Adonis, I'm so glad you let me stay here," I whispered, grateful for his support.
"Of course, anything for my best friend," he replied, his tone sincere. "Would you like anything to eat?"
I shook my head, feeling the exhaustion from the sleepless night before catching up with me. "No, I think I'll just sleep. I didn't get much sleep last night."
He nodded in understanding as I stood up and made my way to the bed. I missed Sara terribly, her comforting presence and motherly care. I placed my hand on my bump, feeling the gentle movements of the babies, and closed my eyes, drifting off to sleep.
~~~
"Sapphire, wake up." Adonis's voice broke through the haze of sleep, and I slowly opened my eyes, blinking up at him.
"Breakfast in bed," he announced with a smile, placing a tray in front of me. I smiled back, my heart warming at the sight of cereal and a bowl of freshly cut fruit. I giggled, sitting up and rubbing my bump.
"Thank you so much, Adonis," I whispered, touched by his thoughtfulness.
He sat down across from me, watching me with a gentle smile. "Before I leave for work, would you like anything else?" he asked, concern lacing his voice.
I shook my head as I took a spoonful of cereal. "Don't worry, Adonis, I'll be fine," I assured him, offering a reassuring smile.
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I know you might think I'm annoying, but be good for Uncle Adonis, okay?" He cooed while rubbing my baby bump, his sweetness making my heart ache with gratitude.
