SAPPHIRE'S POV
The air felt lighter as Logan and I stepped into his parents' home, though my nerves weighed me down. It had been a while since I'd been here, and the last time I saw everyone was at my baby shower.
"Relax," Logan whispered, his hand resting on the small of my back. "They'll be happy to see you."
I nodded, but I wasn't entirely convinced. My stomach churned—not from the pregnancy this time, but from the anticipation.
The moment we walked into the living room, a familiar chorus of voices erupted. His mom, dad, and siblings all turned to look at us, their eyes wide with surprise.
"Sapphire!" Serena exclaimed, rushing over to hug me. "It's so good to see you, sweetheart!"
Her embrace was warm, almost like she'd been waiting for this moment.
"And you two are... back together?" Isabella asked, her gaze flickering between us with a mixture of shock and amusement.
"Yeah," Logan said casually, though his hand on my back stayed firm, like he was staking a claim. "We're back together."
There was a beat of silence before a wave of chatter broke out. Everyone had questions—when did this happen, how did it happen, what changed?
Amid the chaos, Serena's eyes softened as they landed on me. "I'm so happy that Logan is finally giving me my grandkids. And how are you feeling, Sapphire? Are you taking care of yourself and the babies?"
"Babies?" he repeated, his voice low and sharp.
The room went silent. My cheeks burned as everyone turned their attention to Logan, whose expression darkened instantly.
Serena froze, her hand flying to her mouth. "You didn't tell him?"
"No, Mom, you didn't tell me," Logan said, his tone tense. He looked around the room, his eyes narrowing. "Did everyone here know?"
There was a murmur of agreement as people exchanged guilty glances.
"Unbelievable," Logan muttered, running a hand through his hair. "You all knew Sapphire was pregnant with twins and that I was the father, and no one thought to tell me?"
"It wasn't our place, Logan," his father said calmly. "We assumed Sapphire would tell you when she was ready."
Logan let out a frustrated sigh, pacing the room. I bit my lip, guilt twisting in my chest.
"I'm sorry," I said softly, stepping closer to him. "I didn't mean for it to happen this way. I just... I was scared."
He stopped pacing and looked at me, his expression softening slightly. "I know," he said after a moment, his voice quieter. "I get it. But finding out like this..." He shook his head, then turned to his family. "You guys could've at least given me a heads-up."
Serena placed a hand on his arm. "We didn't want to betray Sapphire's trust. She was going through a lot, Logan."
He sighed, his shoulders relaxing. "Fine. I get it. Just... next time, maybe don't keep me in the dark about something this important."
His mom smiled, clearly relieved that he wasn't holding a grudge. "We'll keep that in mind."
The tension in the room eased, and the conversation shifted to lighter topics. Logan stayed close to me the whole time, his hand never leaving mine.
As the evening went on, I couldn't help but feel grateful for him. Despite everything—the misunderstandings, the secrets—he was still here, still by my side.
