Adonis rushed into the room, his eyes wide with panic, and Scarlett following closely behind him. His expression was frantic, his hair slightly disheveled like he hadn't taken a moment to even breathe before running in.

"Are you okay? What happened?" Adonis blurted out as he crossed the room in just a few strides, his voice thick with concern. He reached my bedside and leaned over, his eyes scanning my face and then moving down to my belly, visibly relieved to see me conscious.

"Adonis, I'm fine," I said softly, trying to calm him down. "Really, I'm okay now."

"You sure don't look okay," he muttered, his gaze shifting between me and Logan, his brows knitting together. "Scarlett told me everything—about the attack, the hospital... Why didn't anyone call me sooner?"

"We tried calling you first but couldn't get to you" Sapphire said.

"But I didn't see any calls" Adonis said while waving his phone in the air.

Logan stood up, his posture tense, clearly not thrilled by the sudden interruption. His face hardened as he locked eyes with Adonis, the protective edge in his stance unmistakable.

"I handled it," Logan said coolly, his voice firm. "She's safe now. You didn't need to rush over."

Adonis shot him a sharp look. "Handled it? This is Sapphire we're talking about, not some business deal. I needed to know she was alright."

"She's more than alright," Logan replied, his tone darkening slightly. "And the situation's under control."

I felt the tension rising between them, thick enough to cut with a knife. The last thing I needed was for the two of them to get into another argument, especially now. I tightened my grip on Logan's hand, trying to ease the tension.

"Adonis, I appreciate you coming," I said, glancing at him. "But I'm okay. Really. We are fine."

Adonis's expression softened when he heard that, his shoulders sagging in relief. "Thank God," he whispered, running a hand through his hair. He stepped back a bit, but his eyes stayed locked on me, like he couldn't fully relax until he was sure everything was alright. He placed his hand on my baby bump then smiled. I could feel the tension in the room increasing.

I glanced over at Logan and his eyes never left Adonis. In his eyes I could see anger, confusion, jealousy and hurt. Logan always hated when Adonis was close to me.

Scarlett came up beside him, gently placing a hand on his arm. "I told him not to panic," she said softly, glancing between the three of us. "But you know how he is."

Adonis huffed, crossing his arms. "Damn right I panicked. I just found out you and Sapphire were ambushed."

Logan's jaw clenched, clearly irritated by Adonis's outburst. "Like I said, I handled it. It's no one's fault your stupid phone does not work."

Adonis scoffed. "I don't know how that happened... I just wished I could've helped her before you showed up!"

I could see where this was headed, and it was the last thing I wanted right now. The air was thick with unspoken tension, months of their complicated relationship bubbling beneath the surface. I squeezed Logan's hand again, trying to silently communicate that this wasn't the time for a fight.

"Both of you, stop," I said firmly, my voice cutting through the tension. "This isn't about who found out first or who did what. I'm fine. That's all that matters. We don't need to be fighting right now."

Logan's shoulders relaxed slightly, though he still looked like he wanted to say more. Adonis, too, stepped back, his jaw set in frustration but understanding.
