I stood there for a moment, letting the weight of Sapphire's words sink in. The idea that someone had specifically targeted her because of me sent a fresh wave of fury coursing through my veins. I needed to get to the bottom of this — fast.

"I'm going to make some calls," I said, already pulling out my phone. "Stay here, rest. I'll handle this."

Sapphire nodded, though I could see the worry in her eyes. "Just... please don't do anything reckless, Logan. I don't want anyone else getting hurt."

I forced a reassuring smile, though my mind was already on who I could call to get the information I needed. "I'll be careful. I promise."

Leaving her room, I paced down the hospital hallway, dialing Pablo first. It rang a few times before he picked up.

"Logan?" His voice was groggy, probably from a nap or a late night. "What's going on?"

"We've got a problem," I snapped. "Sapphire was attacked. Some guy said I killed his brother and he was after her to get back at me. Do you know anything about this?"

Pablo swore under his breath. "Shit. No, I haven't heard anything like that, but I can find out. Who was the guy?"

"He didn't give a name. Sapphire said he claimed I killed his brother. I need you to dig into this. Start with Roman and his gang. I want to know everything — who he is, who his brother was, and where I can find him."

"Consider it done," Pablo replied, his voice serious now. "I'll call in some favors, see what I can dig up. You want me to come to the hospital?"

"No," I said quickly. "Stay on this. Sapphire's safe for now, but I want to know who's gunning for her. We can't let our guard down."

"Got it. I'll be in touch soon."

I hung up and shoved my phone back into my pocket, frustration boiling just beneath the surface. My next move was calling in extra security. Whoever this guy was, he clearly wasn't done, and I couldn't afford to take any chances.

I was about to dial another number when a familiar voice called out behind me.

"Logan."

I turned to see Scarlett approaching, her face pale and filled with worry. "How's Sapphire?"

"She's okay for now," I said. "The babies are fine, too. But she's shaken up, and whoever came after her isn't done."

Scarlett nodded, her lips pressing into a thin line. "I can't believe it. It all happened so fast. One minute we were laughing, and the next... that man grabbed her. I couldn't stop him, Logan."

"You did enough," I said, my tone softening. "You got her to safety, and that's what matters. Did you see anything else that might help? Anything about the men that stood out?"

Scarlett bit her lip, thinking for a moment. "The one who grabbed Sapphire had a tattoo on his neck—some kind of snake or dragon. I couldn't see it clearly."

A tattoo. That was something to go on.

"Good," I said, nodding. "That'll help. I'll get people looking into it."

Scarlett hesitated before speaking again. "Logan, this is bad are you su-?"

I met her gaze, my expression hardening. "I've handled worse. But this... this is personal now. No one goes after Sapphire and gets away with it." I couldn't tell her that I'm a mafia because I still don't know who she is.

Scarlett didn't argue. She gave a small nod before stepping back. I watched her walk away.

The next few hours were a blur, I got something for Sapphire to eat then went back to the hospital.
