"What have you been working on? You've been lost in your own world for the last hour." Emma's childhood friend Amanda said.
"Sorry, I'll come help you in a bit. Let me just put my stuff away." Emma said. She had gotten early to the bar in hope that changing locations would trigger her memory as to where she's seen this symbol before, but she lost track of time and it was getting close to opening the doors. She stopped dead in her tracks when she realized maybe she just needed a second opinion and who better than Amanda.
"Amanda? Can I trust you?" Emma asked.
Amanda crossed her arms, "Of course, I'm offended you even had to ask." She said.
"Whatever I show you doesn't leave this room, okay." Emma said.
"Okay. What's with all the mystery-" Amanda cut herself off.
Emma noticed Amanda's falter, "What is it?"
"I don't know what's going on, but is it bad that this symbol looks familiar." Amanda said.
"You too? That's honestly a relief to hear. I've been going nuts thinking it was all in my head." Emma said. "How about this? Can you recognize some of the words?"
Amanda took the paper that contained the spell Emma wrote down.
"I understand bits and pieces, but not much." Amanda said. "Are you going to tell me what's going on now?"
Emma explained everything from the very beginning and Amanda patiently waited for her to finish before she suggested, "What about the witch? There's no living accomplices, but maybe we can conjure her up and see if she remembers anything."
"Do you think that will actually work?"Emma asked.
Amanda shrugged, "It's worth a shot. It's not like you have much to go off of anyway. I can help you if you want."
Emma sighed, "Looks like we're going to New Jersey then."

Ethan was walking around campus when he thought he was seeing things. He swore he could see Emma standing on the field near the school entrance. He rubbed his eyes, but instead of disappearing she was still there. He perked an ear up and listened hard.
"Can you hear me?" She whispered. "Meet me behind the trees if you can."
Ethan tried his best to look natural as he walked towards the woods. Being extremely careful not to show his excitement. He embraced Emma the second he got near her.
"What are you doing here." He said in awe. It's been a week since he last saw her.
"Awww."
His eyes snapped open when he heard an unrecognizable voice. "Whose that?" He asked breaking up their PDA.
"This is Amanda and we're here because we have an idea." Emma said.
"You told her?" Ethan asked.
"Of course I did. I can't do this spell alone. You're lucky our boss likes us and gave us the days we asked for off." Emma said.
Emma filled him in and he looked at her skeptically, "How are you so sure that she'll want to talk to you?" Ethan asked.
Emma shrugged, "I don't, but like Amanda said it's worth a shot."
"Alright, well I have one more class in 10 minutes and then I'm free to help."
"Um, actually I think it's best if we do this alone. Hannah wasn't particularly fond of werewolves or vampires for that matter. You should probably leave this to us. We'll fill you guys in when we're done."
