~Chapter 18~

It took overnight for the discussion to be done. It was a success. Kōga said he'd bring over some supplies in a couple of days' time so Sesshomaru sent A-Un with him to aid him in any way they can. Sesshomaru had ordered Amaya to go with Kōga and A-Un to see them home so Mayu could stay at the palace. Mayu tucked Rin in, then decided to check on Sesshomaru knowing he was still working away in his office. She walked down the hall silently, trying to be quiet so she doesn't wake anyone. When she got to the door, she knocked.

"Who is it?" A tired voice came.

"Mayu." She called.

"Come in." She almost didn't hear him. She opened the door and walked inside. Sesshomaru looked like he was about to pass out making Mayu frown.

"Sesshomaru, come on, time for bed." She said walking over to him.

"I need to finish this first." He muttered. Mayu glanced down, it was a list of needed things.

"Sesshomaru, you can do that in the morning." Mayu scolded.

"Just a few more Mayu." He growled. Mayu sighed before walking behind him placing gentle hands on his shoulders. He stopped writing for a split moment, then continued once he relaxed under her touch. She gently rubbed his shoulders in a soothing manner.

"Ok, but you need to rest, you've already passed out earlier." Mayu whispered softly.

"I'm fine, Mayu. Go to bed." He commanded softly.

"Not until you do." Mayu said sternly.

"Now, Mayu." He growled softly.

"No, Sesshomaru!" Mayu snapped.

"You need to rest whether you like it or not. You may be a demon, but being a lord is not easy. If you want to work efficiently and to your best ability you need to take care of yourself. And if you do not comply I will force you." Sesshomaru stopped writing, then glanced up at her.

"Excuse me?" He asked in a low tone.

"You heard me, now come on, time for bed." Mayu urged. Sesshomaru sighed deeply, and to her surprised, he started to stand. Mayu smiled and let his shoulders go standing beside him.

"I will also prepare not only Rin's breakfast but yours as well and I will not take no for an answer." Mayu said with a smile. Sesshomaru stared down at her with a tired gaze, then sighed closing his eyes.

"It's not needed." He grumbled.

"Yes, it is. Now, come on." She said as she placed a gentle hand on his back guiding him out. She walked beside him making sure he actually went to bed, the guards watching them confusedly. When they finally made it to his room, Mayu slowed to a stop.

"Have a good rest my lord." Mayu said with a warm smile before turning to walk away.

"Mayu." Sesshomaru spoke up making her glance back at him.

"Yes?" She asked softly.

"Come." He simply said before opening the door and walking inside. Mayu hesitated but complied walking in as well before closing the door behind them. She heard thuds making her look over. He had taken his armor off, and now was taking his tops off tossing it to the side. Mayu's face turned red before looking away.

"How did you manage to convince the wolf so easily?" He asked before sitting on the bed.

"He listened well, it wasn't that hard." Mayu muttered. He fell silent for a moment, then sighed.

"Come here, Mayu." Mayu glanced up, then complied. She walked over and sat beside him.

"You speak well from what the wolf spoke." Sesshomaru looked down at Mayu.

"It's impressive, most women do not have that ability." Mayu sighed.

"I had to learn how to have a voice." She muttered. Sesshomaru fell silent yet again, then he shifted reaching up rotating his shoulder. Mayu glanced up and frowned.

"You're sore, aren't you?" She asked. He didn't answer making her sigh. She placed a hand on his other shoulder.

"Lay on your stomach for a moment." He gave a confused look.

"Please?" She asked with a sweet smile. He hesitated for a moment more, then he complied. Mayu shifted a little closer, then placed her hand on his back gently giving him a massage. He tensed for a moment, then relaxed greatly as he closed his eyes and let out a heavy breath. This went on for a while, Mayu tried her best to work out any tension he had. Sesshomaru suddenly turned over to his side, his gaze falling on her.

"Rest here." he muttered before closing his eyes once again. Mayu stared for a moment, then sighed softly.

"You should have the bed to yourself." She muttered softly. She got no answer, only his Mokomoko-san wrapping around her gently. She sighed once more in defeat.

"Fine." She shifted a little so his Mokomoko-san moved out of her way. She laid down beside him, his bed wasn't too large but not too small, just like the outdoor bed swing. At least he kept his shirt on then, it was so hard for Mayu to not look. Can you blame her? That was until she heard soft snoring. She took a peek, then smiled.

'Finally.' She looked over, then took the blanket covering him properly.

'You work too hard for your own good.' She sighed then got comfy again.

'I suppose I could do that for him. It can't be that hard, can it? It'll lighten his load a little anyway.' She thought before looking at him once more.

'I wonder why he pushes himself so hard. To prove his worth? Possibly.' She then saw a strand of hair fall onto his cheek making her let out a silent giggle. She reached over tucking it behind his ear which twitched scaring her, but he didn't wake up.

'You still act like a stressed child sometimes. Then again, for a demon, you're still young huh?' She finally closed her eyes relaxing.

'I wonder how much longer before he gets fed up with my bickering.'
