~Chapter 27~

"I hope everything's ok." Mayu said with a frown. They had spent hours in the town after finding out Kōga hadn't shown up to check on everyone and give Sesshomaru time to do what he needed. However, even though night had fallen giving them the impression that things had been over and done with, a guard approached.

"I recommend staying out here." Amaya's brows furrowed.

"Why?" She asked in a serious tone making Rin hold onto Mayu nervously.

"W-Well, you see-" A loud crash and bark made the four jump.

"Th-That. They've been at it all day, something about getting rid of Mayu?" The guard muttered not knowing if he heard right or not.

"No, we can't!" Rin said, her grip tightening.

"Who started it?" Amaya asked.

"Y-Your father." The guard stuttered. Amaya growled.

"Of fucking course he did, damned moron." She then looked at Mayu.

"Hate to say it, but uh, might need you to calm Sesshomaru-sama while I drag my dad off." Mayu nodded.

"Let's go clean up then, I have a feeling something important just got shattered from that sound." Mayu nodded again, then they went inside. 

"Stay here for now, ok?" Mayu asked as they stood in the doorway.

"Ok." She said in a soft tone. 

"What is the meaning of this?!" Amaya snapped making Sesshomaru, Chikara, and even Sesshomaru's mother flinch a little glancing over. Sesshomaru was injured making Rin shiver a little, Chikara was the only one who could do that with ease, he and Sesshomaru were nearly equaled.

"Stay out of this." Chikara growled lowly. Amaya bared her fangs, but Mayu stopped her by putting a gentle hand on her back.

"Level head, Amaya." She spoke softly, then she gave Sesshomaru a soft smile.

"I checked in on everyone in town, unfortunately, Kōga has not been here." She spoke in a gentle tone. He stared for a moment, then nodded.

"Now you're letting her take care of our people's well being?" Chikara asked.

"She does well, father, they all love her and greet her with kindness and respect." Amaya spoke up again.

"Oh, and they gave us treats, we brought some back for you too Sesshomaru-sama!" Rin chirped holding up a small box filled with the treats she spoke of.

"It is dangerous to let another species take care of such things, Sesshomaru." His mother spoke up making Sesshomaru glare.

"It is my choice and command of what she does, as for your comment earlier, it's not happening." He growled softly. Mayu sighed softly, then carefully walked over putting a gentle hand on Sesshomaru's arm making him look down at her. Her eyes read 'are you alright?' making him silently glance at his mother and Chikara, then nod receiving a gentle smile.

"Not clouding your reasoning, huh?" Chikara asked.

"Excuse me?" Sesshomaru asked making Mayu tense a little.

"Have you forgotten what you need to do?" Sesshomaru furrowed his eyes a little.

"The Obon Festival isn't for another two days, then we need to wait another week before he can speak to Haha Tsuki. I've been keeping track for Sesshomaru-sama knowing he has been stressed, I didn't want him to forget and miss his chance." Mayu spoke up again looking at Chikara, she held a careful but modest tone taking Sesshomaru aback a little.
