~Chapter 26~

The sun was about to peak over the horizon. Mayu's eyes fluttered open, then she stared at Sesshomaru's chest, his arm draped over her loosely as he slept peacefully. She looked up at his face, he wore a calm expression, calmer than she's ever seen. She sighed softly, she had to get up and get Rin food. She went to carefully move from his loose grip, but his loose grip turned to a tight one the moment she moved. Sesshomaru took in a deep breath, then let it out as he settled down again, his grip loosening again. Mayu sighed.

'I have no choice but to wake him, huh?' She thought. She waited a bit, then tried again. She managed to sit up this time making her smile, then jump when he suddenly wrapped his arm around her hips. She looked down, his eyes were still closed. She thought he was still asleep, so she put a hand over his own about to move his arm, then his grip tightened a little making her look over once again, he opened an eye gazing up at her tiredly.

"I have to get up, Sesshomaru." She spoke softly. He glanced to his window, the curtains were still open.

"The sun isn't even up." His voice was deeper and raspy due to him just waking up.

"I know, this is when I get up." Mayu pushed on. Sesshomaru let out a heavy breath as he closed his eye again.

"You don't have to get up, I just have to." Mayu muttered. He sat there for a moment, then slowly let her go turning on his back rubbing his eyes.

"I should." He rasped out before stretching. Mayu frowned.

"You don't need to Sesshomaru." He pushed himself up running his fingers through his long hair.

"Aren't you the one who told me to get a better sleep schedule?" He asked glancing over at Mayu. She sighed, he was right.

"It's still awfully early though." She muttered.

"Then what's your excuse?" He asked.

"Routine." She simply said before getting out of bed. Sesshomaru seemed a bit amused as he got up as well. Mayu started making the bed making Sesshomaru stare for a moment, it almost seemed to be her second nature. He walked over putting his tops on, he looked at his armor, then decided to leave it off today.

"I'll prepare breakfast after I get dressed." Mayu said before walking to the door and walking out to head to her room. Sesshomaru watched her leave as she closed the door behind her. He closed his eyes with a soft breath before walking out as well. He walked down the hall to the main hall wanting to go outside for a while, but he was stopped.

"You ok Sesshomaru-sama?" He looked over to see Amaya, she looked exhausted making his brows furrow in confusion.

"I could ask you the same thing." He muttered as Amaya walked beside him.

"Long night." She muttered.

"Your father never let you hear the end of it?" Amaya nodded.

"He then poofed, I have no clue where he went." Sesshomaru thought for a moment.

"My mother could have needed him." Amaya shrugged.

"Anyway, you look not half-dead for once. Mayu's taking good care of you?" Amaya pointed out playfully. Sesshomaru rolled his eyes.

"Suppose so." He muttered. 

"C'mon, just go get her Sesshomaru-sama." Amaya encouraged.

"I'll never hear the end of it." Sesshomaru muttered.

"Forget her! Prove to her that this won't be like last time. They won't know until they see it, old people are nieve." Amaya said crossing her arms.

"It's not that simple, Amaya. I could be chased out, killed even, if the pack found out." She facepalmed.

"You do know you can kill them all in a blink of an eye, right?" She asked.

"I will not kill my people!" He snapped.

"That's not the point, it's the point of you're scared for nothing." Amaya said before putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Plus, only ignoring it is going to make it worse. Your mother has caught on already, my father, my mother was the first one to. Just go for it, prove them wrong. Plus, you have a child who needs a proper mother, call her your own or not." Amaya spoke sternly. Before Sesshomaru could speak again, a little voice caught their attention.

"Morning Sesshomaru-sama!~" Rin chirped running over and giving him a big hug. He looked down at Rin, then gently placed a hand on her head making her look up at him with a big smile.

"Ah, Amaya, you're up early?" Mayu asked walking over to the group.

"Yeah, I suppose I am huh?" She said with a nervous laugh.

"Sesshomaru-sama." They all looked over to see Eri.

"What is it?" He asked.

"Your mother has requested to see you." He growled making Rin frown.

"What for?" Eri sighed.

"O-Of, uh..." She trailed off glancing at Mayu who sighed and looked away making Amaya give a worried look.

"Fine, Amaya, can you take Rin and Mayu out for a while?" He asked making Amaya perk up.

"Where?" Sesshomaru thought for a moment, then looked at Mayu.

"Can you go to town and see if Kōga has come back with the supplies yet?" Mayu smiled and nodded.

"Yay, I get to help!~" Rin chirped cheerfully.

"We'll be back shortly." Mayu said before taking Rin's hand. Amaya nodded as they walked to the exit. Sesshomaru growled under his breath knowing this would start a massive fight, that's why he sent Mayu and Rin on their way. He then made his way to his mother while Eri quietly stepped away to give them room to talk.
