The other men and women screamed as they plunged into the crack, down to who knows where. I searched for Brianna and Cody, making sure they hadn't been swallowed into the cracks. The ground was still growling violently. I stayed where I was, my mind unable to concoct what was happening. I just ran towards them, not knowing what I'd do when I got to them. I stopped. A crack raced me to them, opening up while doing so. Cody stared at it as it enlargened, completely mesmerized, but Brianna pulled him away to run. I followed parallel to them, with the crack in between us. I felt claws hook around my shoulders, thanking the creature in my head that it didn't go for my collar. I started to glide through the air, watching people get swallowed and run. I looked up to see a large dragon carry me gradually higher. It looked down at me with its ashen eyes. It was Zinzan.
"You have really good timing," I praised.
"Find your 'friends'," He called.
And I did so.
I searched for them in the large desert of cliffs and cracks. It wasn't that hard with not much to search through and Cody screaming. Zinzan lowered me towards them, gently. I reached my hands out towards them. Brianna caught it, still running with Cody.
She pushed him on first, then, as I tried pulling her on, the crack gave in.
At first, I still had her in my grip, and she remained dangling over the immense gorge in the ground. I tried pulling her on but then my hands slipped from hers. She didn't reach back for them, but instead calmly plummeted into the great void.
