"What?" I asked.
"Look, when the wave came in, we were swept in different paths- you found your way to the whirlpool but I got before I had time to change into any other creature. They took me to her but she didn't want to see me. Not yet, at least, they told me. they said she wanted me equipped first."
"Equipped?" Cody repeated.
"Get implanted with a tracker and then taken to a group of people they called the oblivion. They had some sort of telepathy, I guess and got me out of my senses. They controlled me."
"What stops them from controlling you now?" I asked.
"But before the earthquake happened they were directing me to do things when they just cut off- then.. well you know the rest," He finished. I suddenly felt unsafe with Zinzan. Cody was still staring somewhere in the clouds beyond. I lay back on Zinzan's scaly, large back, thinking about everything. Then I shot up. Cody looked at me.
"What?" He asked.
"I think I have an idea," I said.
"What is it?" Zinzan asked.
"The oblivious- oblivion- whatever they're called, we need to get them, make them do what we say. At least one to command the rest-"
"And what do you propose we do after that?" Zinzan questioned.
"Make them control her,"
There was silence.
"Well that's stupid," Zinzan said finally.
"What?"
"Say we somehow manage to do that, what do you expect us to do then? Make her make us fajitas?" Zinzan asked.
"Ooh that sounds good," Cody said.
"No, no fajitas, I mean we can stop her! And if she can control a shapeshifter and send out giant waves, there's something she can do to restore at least some lives!" I explained.
"If there's any chance of us doing any of that, we'll need a compass-"
"A compass? Of all things?"
"I'll explain everything just get it out," Zinzan commanded.
"Um, where is it?"
"In your bag, of course,"
"Oh, about that.."
