The company ran towards the house, another roar came and Bombur started to pass them all. They saw the house in the distance, and the huge bear jumped out of the forest behind them, but this was not their only problem because now the dragon was circling them from above. They all piled on to the door of the house, until Thorin lifted the latch, letting them in.

Everyone piled in, trying to close the door before the bear got in. When the door was closed they all moved away from it except for Ori.

"It's leaving." Ori said, looking out of a crack in the door. Dori pulled him away from the door and further into the house.

Dynir hovered above the skinchanger's cabin where the dwarves were held up in. "Hold steady." I told him as I lifted up from the saddle and stood, making my way to his tail. I laid down, front to his tail and back to the sky. I held on tightly before I started to shimmy myself down the length of his tail and onto the roof below us.

There's a window open to your left. Dynir said through our mind link. I looked up at him and signaled for him to land further away in the open field, I then made my way over to the open window. I could hear the voices of the company coming from inside the cabin. I hung myself off of the roof and searched for the windowsill with my feet. When I had found it, I slowly shimmied myself through the window and into the cabin. I found myself in a huge, empty kitchen. I quietly made my way across the kitchen, I had almost made it to the dining room when I ran into a terrified looking Ori. He dropped the pitcher that he had and ran to the others, blowing my cover.

"She's here! She's here in the cabin with us!" Ori yelled out in a panic. I drew my sword, waiting for the dwarf scum to enter the kitchen, but only the grey wizard entered. "Nothing that you can do can stop me old man." I said. "I am completely controlled by the dark lord." I readied my sword as the end of his staff began to glow. He began to utter words of ancient elvish before he thrust the staff at me, sending the spell towards me, blackening my vision and robbing me of all of my senses.

I woke up, my whole body feeling groggy and my head feeling as if it was splitting open. I tried to rub my head, only to find that I had been tied to a post of the house, and had been completely robbed of my weapons. "We should kill her now." Gloin said, putting his axe up to my throat. "While we have the chance, before she tries to kill one of us again." He swung his axe back, getting ready to deal the final blow of my demise. I closed my eyes, peacefully awaiting the end of my suffering. I flinched when I heard the clash of steel on steel.

I opened my eyes to find Fili standing in front of me, sword drawn, blocking Gloin's axe. "You will do no such thing." He said, shoving Gloin back with every ounce of strength that he had. Salaera ran over and cut my hands free from their bindings and said, "Go, get out of here. We will find you again." I stood without a second thought and ran for the open window. I was through the window and halfway to Dynir before the dwarves could comprehend what had just happened.

I was climbing into Dynir's saddle when I heard the cabin door creak open. The dragon started to growl and tense up his muscles, readying himself to attack. I looked up as I was strapping myself into the saddle and saw Fili hesitantly walking towards us. I placed my hand on Dynir's neck and said, "It is okay." The dragon relaxed, but never took his eyes off of the dwarf.

"He grew fast." Fili said. He looked into Dynir's eyes and said, "The last time that I saw you, you were just an egg. Look at you now. You're terrifying." I smiled as Dynir nuzzled the dwarf, knocking him down to the ground. "Do you think that he remembers me from when he was in the egg?" Fili asked me as he laid there, petting the dragon's snout. I shook my head and said, "No. It is more likely that he can feel my emotions towards you." Fili blushed a little before asking, "And what emotions might that be?" I looked at him and said, "Safety."

Fili smiled and said, "I dreamt about you last night. You were riding Dynir towards Erebor and then you landed. At first, I did not know that it was you until..."

"Your face cleared up. I had the same dream, but your face was the fuzzy one." I said completing his story. A roar came from the forest and birds flew from the trees. He stood from the ground and said, "We should get back inside." I looked at him and then at the cabin full of dwarves that wanted me dead. "I will keep you safe. No one can hurt you while I'm still breathing." He said as he held out my hand for him to take. I sighed and slid off of Dynir's back, taking his hand.

When we reached the door, I let his hand go and walked into the house. Everyone looked at us and I stopped dead in my tracks. I started to turn around and walk back outside, but Fili caught me and brought me inside. I walked past everyone and sat by myself, lost in thought.

"How can you trust her after what she did to us?" Kili asked, grabbing my arm and pulling me away from her. I shoved him off and said, "She has never given me a reason to not trust her.

Some of the dwarves were still furious about what she did. "Do you know why she left in the mountains?" I asked everyone. They all shook their heads no, then I said, "She left because she didn't want to hurt anyone. She still has some control over who she was, but not a lot." They all looked at her, then back at me. "How do you know this?" Thorin asked. I looked over at her and said, "She told me."

Beorn's P.O.V.

Night soon fell and the house went dark. I shifted back into my human form. I could sense that the orc pack was not far behind. As I entered my house, there were thirteen dwarves, one hobbit, three girls and a wizard sleeping in the hay on the floor.

I got up early and snuck out of the house. Dynir was curled by the front door waiting for me. "Come on." I said, waking him up.

He got up and stretched before letting me get on his back. We flew around the house waiting for the sun to come up. Somehow I still felt trapped even though my Master was gone. As the sun rose, we landed and I went back inside.

Everyone was sitting at the table when I heard Beorn say, "But orcs I hate more. What do you need?" "We need to borrow your horses." Gandalf said. "Okay." Beorn said.

After breakfast, we went over to the horses. There were just enough for two people to ride on each of the horses. Kili rode with Salaera, Ori rode with Aeremys, Bombur rode with Bofur, Bifur rode with Gloin, Nori rode with Dori, Fili rode with me, Oin rode with Thorin, Balin rode with Dwalin, and Bilbo rode with Gandalf.

We went to the forest behind Beorn's house. By the time that we were there, Beorn had turned back into his bear figure. "Let the ponies return to their master." Gandalf said walking into the forest.

I walked over to Salaera and said, "Da gave me his sword to give to you when you got older, so here it is." I handed over Zhoirtar, and waited for her reaction.

She took Zhoirtar and then said, "Thank you. I always wanted Da's sword." She hugged me and then set her horse free.

As we started to untack Gandalf's horse, he came out of the forest and said, "Not my horse, I need it." We stopped untacking his horse and Bilbo asked, "You're not leaving us?"

Gandalf got on his horse and then said to Thorin, "I'll be waiting for you at the overlook, before the slopes of Erebor. Keep the map and key safe. Do not enter that mountain without me." Gandalf paused and then said, "This is not the Greenwood of old, the very air of the forest is heavy with an illusion that will seek to enter your mind and lead you astray."

"Lead us astray? What does that mean?" Bilbo asked Gandalf. "You must stay on the path, do not leave it. If you do, you'll never find it again." Gandalf turned his horse around and started to leave when he yelled back, "No matter what may come, stay on the path!" Then he was gone.

Dynir flew over the forest as we walked through it. In the shade of the forest, I could feel the darkness trying to take hold of me. Pulling my mind in every direction imaginable. I struggled to hold it at bay for as long as I could.
