Gandalf's P.O.V.

"You fools! What were you thinking letting them leave like that? Do you have any idea how important they were if you wanted to succeed?" I yelled at the company as we sat in the dining hall of Lake Town. "I'm sure we will be fine without them." Thorin said, uninterested in the subject on hand.

"I was shown the two different futures of this quest before we embarked on this journey, Thorin, and you have just done something that can not be undone; for the girls are moving in on the mountain as we speak." Thorin looked furious, "They have no right to the mountain! How can we stop this?" I shook my head and said, "There is no way to stop this, forces are in motion that cannot be undone."

We ate in silence for a while before Fili spoke up. "What did the future show for this quest? Were we doomed from the start?" I looked into his eyes; they were not the same eyes that he had when we first embarked on this journey. They were missing something. "Tell us Gandalf." Kili said, voice still filled with pain. "There were two futures to this quest. The first one was shown without the company of the girls." I started, "You claimed the mountain from Smaug, Lake Town was destroyed and the dragon was killed." The company seemed relieved at the news. "That doesn't seem so bad." Bilbo said. I sighed and continued. "Without a dragon to guard the plunder, armies move towards the mountain. The battle will be known as The Battle of Five Armies. Thorin, Fili, and Kili. You will not live to see the dawn of a new day once the fighting has started. Those girls were your only chance at living, and you just sent them away. Congratulations, you just signed your own death certificates."

Aeremys' P.O.V.

As night started to fall, the mountain started to radiate light from the sealed off entrance. Smaug was awake and he knew that we were here. "I'm not too sure about this buddy." I said, stroking Dynir's neck.

Everyone was scared of what was going to happen. Well, everyone except for Vamorys. If she was scared, she did not wear it on her face. "I want all of you to make your way to Lake Town." Vamorys said to us as she dressed Dynir and herself for battle. "Dynir and I are less than half the size of the beast, we can move quicker than he can. I need you to get to Lake Town and find Bard. Tell him that Smaug is coming." She said while mounting her dragon. "If something happens and this mission goes south, I don't want to bring you down with me. Now go, evacuate the town." After that the two took off into the sky and disappeared into the night. I turned towards Salaera and Zestari and said, "It's not safe here, we need to go. Now. Vamorys can handle herself, she will be okay." With that we quickly made our way to Lake Town to find a man by the name of Bard.

Bard's P.O.V.

Something was off about the night. The water trembled and frames fell off of the wall. "What is it papa?" Tilda asked as she clutched her ragged doll. "I don't know sweetheart. I don't know." I said to her as I looked towards the dark mountain.

Only moments later a loud knock echoed through our small house. Bain got to the door before I did. He swung it open and three women stepped through. "Da. Do you know these people?" He asked, fright lacing his voice." I shook my head and unsheathed my sword. "Get your sisters and go hide." I said to my son while I prepared to defend my family. The women did not draw their weapons, but instead the one with red hair spoke up. "Are you Bard of Lake Town?" She said, almost out of breath. I slightly nodded my head. "Good." She said, "We meant you no harm and did not mean to frighten you. I am Aeremys, this is my sister Salaera and her friend Zestari. We were sent here by Vamorys to tell you to be prepared. Smaug is coming." When she was done it seemed like an explosion went off and we all fell to the ground. Soon after an ear splitting roar echoed across the whole town.

"We need to evacuate. And you" Aeremys paused. "You have a dragon to kill. Just the big one though. Don't shoot the blue one." With that the three girls left to evacuate the town.

"Children! Go with them. They will get you to safety. I will find you afterwards. Okay?" I kissed all of them on the head and sent them out the door with Aeremys. When they were gone, I pulled the black arrow down from the ceiling and made my way to the only defense tower left.

Fili's P.O.V.

An earth tremble shook the ground with so much force that it knocked more than half of us out of our cots. "Oy! What was that?" A couple dwarves called out. "We need to move. The dragon has been awoken." Gandalf said as he hurried to his feet.

For once no one questioned the old man and just did as they were told. No one wanted to die tonight, especially so close to finishing our quest.

As we exited the hall, the whole town was in a panic. People were falling off of walkways and into the water, others were piled so densely in boats that it was a miracle that they didn't sink to the bottom of the lake.

I looked to the sky as a dance of dragons was performed right above our heads. "If you want to survive the night master dwarf, we must keep moving." Gandalf said as he urged me on. "Vamorys will be quite alright. It is us that we must worry about now."

We all kept a steady pace to the boats as the sky above us exploded with fire and the screams of dragons.

Vamory's P.O.V.

I tried to look down to see if Bard was ready for Smaug or if I needed to hold him off for a little while longer. I don't know how much longer we can do this. Dynir said through our link. He looked exhausted and I could tell just by how he was flying that we didn't have long left before Smaug would catch up with us and put an end to this quest.

Smaug was right on our tail when the horn of Lake Town sounded off. "It's time." I said and signaled for Dynir to fall through the clouds, leading Smaug to his death.

We approached the tower that Bard was in with Smaug right behind us. "I've got you now." The dragon spoke out with a snake-like voice. "Not so fast." I whispered as I pulled Dynir up and out of harm's way. As soon as we were clear, Bard let the arrow fly. The mighty dragon let out a blood chilling scream as the arrow found its sweet spot, killing the dragon.

His body went limp and he fell right onto the town below, crushing most of the buildings. "Lets head back to the mountain." I said to Dynir as I patted him on his neck.
