Brooke walked along the beach, her sandals held tightly in her hand as the summer breeze blew across her face not even cooling her face with the amount of heat lingering in the air. She couldn't believe she had a sex dream about Xavier and she felt really disgusted with herself when she found out that she enjoyed the dream. She wanted to hate herself for it but she couldn't deny that she was sexually interested in her step-brother. She wanted nothing more than to go back home to New York and forget all about the second family that she had and try and find herself a boyfriend that wasn't related to her in any way and move on with her life but she knew that would never happen, not when Xavier kept playing mind games with her. She just needed to survive the rest of the summer by not having any interactions with Xavier that way she can lose interest and she can try her best to enjoy the rest of her summer.
Maybe she could find a place where she could play her cello for most of the day and only go back to the house when she felt tired and needed to rest if she did that she wouldn't see Xavier around and she wouldn't continue on having sex dreams about him. She could even just play at the beach and work on getting a summer tan in the process and go back to New York looking like she went on some fancy Bahama vacation like the rich kids of her school did. Brooke didn't need a summer job or friends to get her mind off Xavier all she needed was music.
'One, twenty-one guns, throw up your arms into the sky, you and I-'
The sound of Billy Joe Armstrong's voice breaks Brooke out of thought, her phone vibrating in her hand as Green played indicating that one of her best friends from New York was calling her. A smile instantly made it's way onto her face as she answers the incoming call placing the hot screen against her ear.
"Matrix, how are you?" Brooke asked the minute she answered the phone not waiting for his greeting.
Matrix replies with a soft chuckle that made Brooke's stomach clench at the sound of home. "I'm doing good Brookey, how's California? Any cute boys stealing my girl away?"
Brooke rolled her eyes finding a spot on the sand that was close to the tide so she could still get her feet wet but not her whole body and rested her elbows on her knees as she looked out towards the sea, a few seagulls flying and diving down for food. She could smell the barbeque that Hank was grilling just a few feet behind her and the music that Dianna was playing but she blocked that out by focusing all of her attention towards Matrix.
"It's alright and you know that nobody can take my eyes away from you Matty." Brooke teased.
Matrix laughs, an image of him throwing his head back and his hazel eyes being squinted was placed in Brooke's head as she listened to him laugh, her heart clenching in pain as tears started to swell in her eyes. She would be lying if she said she didn't miss Matrix right now. She was really close to Matrix, he was the only one besides Heather that truly knew about her past with her dad. He was always there for her and he was even the first of many things for Brooke. He took her first kiss as well as her virginity. In all honesty, she had a crush on Matrix and was super happy when they slept together even if she felt awkward afterward but when she found out that Matrix was gay she didn't mind and kept him closer to her treating him more like a brother than a lover which she rather would have. If they were to date and broke up she didn't think they would have been able to stay just friends because those usually never worked.
"You got that right, I'm one handsome piece of cheesecake."
Brooke laughed her eyes watching a surfer tumble down as the wave crashed down onto them, her smile dropping as she looked away and listened to Matrix breath on the other line.
"I miss you, Matty," She whispered.
"I miss you too Brooke, but hey I've called to share some news with you which I think you're going to like," Matrix says a smile lacing in his voice.
"Really? What's up? Did you and Luke finally get that dog you guys wanted?" Brooke asked running her free hand through her hair as she hung her head.
"No," Matrix sighs disappointed.
"Oh, well then what?"
"I'm coming down to California for a week to visit!"
"Really!?" Brooke exclaims jumping up not caring if she was being loud and people could hear her. She just heard exciting news they could go suck a dick for all she cared.
"Yep! I fly down Friday morning."
Brooke squeals jumping up and down in her spot, a laugh escaping her in excitement. She was more than thrilled to learn that Matrix was coming to visit her. She would finally have a purpose to wake up and go out, hell he would even be taking out the misery in her vacation out for a little bit and let her breathe by making her happy. Hell, maybe even take her mind off Xavier for a while, maybe she could even stay with him at his hotel while he was visiting so she didn't have to be near Hank and his family, she needed a vacation from the vacation that she was in.
"Yes! What hotel are you staying in?" Brooke asked wiping the sand off her ass as she walked back towards the house, her mood doing a full 180.
"Actually, I'll be staying with you. Your dad actually invited me, he paid for my trip and everything."
Brooke freezes in spot, her eyes landing over on Hank who had his back towards her facing the grill flipping meat. "Are you serious?"
"Like a pregnancy test."
Hank?
Why the hell was Hank calling her friends?
"Did he say why?" Brooke asked her eyes narrowing down on Hank who hadn't realized that she was standing behind him.
"Nope, just asked if I wanted to come down for a week and spend time with you."
Brooke hummed in response, her mood slightly changing when she found out that Hank was the reason behind everything. She needed to find out why Hank decided to invite Matrix down and what he was trying to do because from what she knew, Hank knew nothing about Matrix unless her mother told him about him but in order for that to happen they would have had to be in contact and knowing her mother, she hated being in contact with her ex-husband.
'What games are you playing Hank?' Brooke thought to herself as she flipped his back off before turning and walking inside, Matrix still on the phone talking about what they would be doing.
