DESTINY

Flashback:

The two girls were busy painting posters when one of them sighed and lay down on the floor, paintbrush still in hand.

"Why are you always so stubborn Emma? Do you think anyone is ever going to pay attention to two teenagers protesting against school authorities?"

"Today something big might have happened to Freddy. They should have kept some arrangements for basic first-aid at least."

The shorter of the two mumbled trying to colour the cross in her poster.

"It was just a small cut Em....why fuss about it? Moreover Freddy seems fine now." The taller girl said looking furtively at the small boy sleeping soundly on the couch. Her little brother looked tired. She knew that though Freddy was her brother, her best friend Emma was fiercely protective of him too.

"Isn't that the worst Pree? They could not even take care of a small cut. How can the school let the directors son.....that conceited brat use the infirmary for a band practice?"

"The music room is under renovation Em..."

"Are you by any chance defending that rich idiot Pree?"

The taller girl, Preeda, smiled and sat up. She grabbed the hand of her friend.

"Calm down Em....."

"Someday I will make that brat build a whole hospital only for charity."

Preeda chuckled. She knew that Emma wanted to become a doctor when she grew up. She often said that she would cure people and see them smile. That smile would be priceless.,.... but building a hospital......it was a little too much 😄

"Can't you see Emma? All that music and show is meant to impress you. That brat is absolutely crazy about you."

"I hate him. I hate how he throws his name around everywhere he goes, as if the world is meant to serve him." Emma muttered angrily.

"That's because both your families are business rivals."

"Don't be ridiculous...."

"I have seen how you look at him Em........"

"Don't imagine things Pree. I hate those Ratanawadis specially their son. Arrogant as*hole.."

"Ahhh! No cursing Em......let's ......have our lunch now. You need food inside you to calm down. P'Ton will come in a while to pick you up."

"Don't you think my cousin comes here a little too much lately?" Emma nudged her best friend laughing.

"Now aren't you the one, imagining things a little too much Em...." Preeda's face had turned mildly red.

"Fine fine! But I do think P'Ton has a thing for you Pree...." She chuckled while Preeda rolled her eyes.

"He is our senior Em.........and is not even your real cousin."

"So what, he is better than the real ones." Emma said dismissing the thought of her other not so friendly cousins.

Both girls were exhausted and hungry, so they had their lunch quickly. Suddenly, Emma clutched her throat and slumped on the floor.

"Pree....." She croaked

Preeda looked at her friend and jumped to her side worried.

"Em? What happened?"

"I don't feel so good Pree."

Preeda poured a glass a water and gave her friend.

"Take this Em....Em.....Emmmm....." Emma's whole face had turned red now.
