New Thitipoom

"I can't sit around the whole day waiting for that X-ray report Podd. I have so many patients lined up." I sighed, my leg still throbbing.

"But you have limped around the whole morning with that leg already. Don't make it worse now. "

"Podd you know how crowded it is in there." I said pointing at the patients waiting area.

"Okay fine!! I will just temporarily use a crepe and you can take a painkiller again. Let Dr.Mac handle a few of your patients today...as it is, he is generally lazing around useless." Podd said rolling his eyes.

"No no....he will only ruin all my hard work. I have a patient in recovery from an open heart surgery. She is an aged lady and has huge trust issues with hospital staff. I have to go."

"Hmmm.....I can understand.....I am dealing with a few of those kind myself." Podd replied with gritted teeth.

"Is one of them a post operative appendix patient?" I chuckled.

"You won't let it go will you?" He glared at me.

Gavin had really given Podd a hard time. Initially he was all about 'don't touch me' which changed to 'you will even clear my poop if you have to' situation.

"Don't get angry.....but I have a feeling that he has a thing for you..."

"Really??? I...I.....mean........really that's nuisance....did you hurt your head by mistake....Gav having a thing for me?? We are not gays!!! At least I am not!!"

"Gav??Gav?? When did Gavin become Gav??" I chuckled.

His face had turned beetroot red. I wanted to tease him further but just then the nurse informed me that a patient was asking for me.

Podd quickly wrapped a crepe around my injured leg. I swallowed a painkiller and hobbled to the recovery units.

Mrs. Lou was already giving a hard time to everyone.

"I want Dr.Thitipoom now!!!" I heard when i entered the room.

"I am here..." I smiled at her.

"There..there...now I feel better. Where were you doctor? These people keep serving that bland food to me. Do something! My hands are swollen from the IV channels. I can't take it anymore."

"It's just been 4 days Ma'am since the surgery. We can't give any spicy food yet." I checked her vitals. Her hands were indeed swollen but it really couldn't be helped.

"Then you sit here with me and talk to me and don't call me Ma'am it sounds so formal. Call me Nana."

I smiled at her and sat down next to her.
I had seen only her daughter visiting her once in a while. She seemed lonely. I guess she didn't have many relatives. I always felt bad for those people who were here fighting  for their lives but had no one to live for.

"What happened to your leg?"

"I fell down and hurt myself."

"You should take care of yourself. You should have a wife taking care of you now."

Unsure of what to say i just smiled at her.

"Do you know doctor, if my granddaughter were here I would have never been this lonely. But ....." She sighed.

I patted her arm. "It's okay..... right now you can talk to me." I said sympathetically.
She always spoke fondly about her granddaughter, though I had never seen her visit my patient.
