In the Beginning

In the beginning everything was great, just like a child's life should be. I was born on a cold winter morning in January, at Greenwood Memorial Hospital in Greenwood, SC. Being an infant, I had no idea what was in store for me as a child, teen, or adult. However, I can vaguely remember enjoying life to the fullest, up until I was four. Before I turned four, I remember playing around outside with my brother's and friends. I remember my biological dad (who I call Tim) playing with us, like a dad should. I remember sliding down the hill at the mill on cardboard boxes. I had no care in the world, I was just a child living life to the fullest.

I remember the day Tim left us like it was yesterday. He said he was going to get us ice cream, but he never came back. I cried for him that day, and several days after. I didn't know if I would ever see him again. I was told he came back and took all the tires off our car, and put it up on cinder blocks. Not sure if that was true, but I do know he never came back that I knew of. So just like that, I had no dad.

Right before I turned four, my mom started talking to a guy whose name was Mark. I remember my mom really liking him, although she claimed he was just a friend; maybe he was. My brothers loved him, I never liked him! My mom had to run some errands one day, so she let this guy Mark babysit my brother's and I. I didn't want to stay with him, I wanted to go with her; but she made me stay anyway. I was only four years old then. That day was the start of the roller coaster that I've been on my whole life.
