The Move to Texas

Fred and I wanted a fresh start away from all the bad memories... So, I decided to put in a transfer to a Wal-Mart in Texas. We decided to move to Texas because my biological dad lived there with my brother and sisters. I wanted to be a part of their life. I wanted them to know I cared. I also wanted to see if Tim (my biological father) would try and be a part of my life, if I lived closer to him. I hated leaving my friends and family behind. But I knew in my heart that we needed a fresh start.

I didn't think that when I put in the transfer at the end of December, that I would get a call the first week of January. The Wal-Mart in McKinney, TX was calling to offer me the same job I had; except with a pay raise. I couldn't turn it down. I told them yes and they asked when I could start. They knew I needed a few weeks because I was a thousand miles away. So, I told them three weeks. We were going to move the week of my birthday, which was a lot sooner than we had expected to move. On the plus side, it was a great birthday present.

Everyone knew we were moving, but no one knew how soon. They were sad we were leaving so soon, but they understood. We told them we had set a date for the wedding, and that it was going to be in Texas. I had a few friends that promised they would be there, but I knew they probably wouldn't show up. We decided to get married on November 11, 2011. Which meant before we said I do, we were together for almost two years (1 year, and 8 months to be exact). That also meant I had ten months to plan our wedding.

It started snowing the same week we were set to move, but we didn't let that stop us. We headed out on January 19th, with snow on the road. It took us 17 hours to get to Texas. We didn't have a house to move in yet, so we had to stay with Tim and my siblings. Tim ended up claiming he found us a house. However, when we went to look at it - there was huge holes in the ceiling of the house. You could literally look up and see the sky. I was heartbroken, here I was with three kids and my fiancé with no place to call home. What was we going to do? Where was we going to live? Would we ever find a place?

A couple days went by, and Tim talked to a landlord that he knew. The landlord said he had a house he was planning on selling, but we could come look at it if we wanted. That same day we went and looked at the house, it was perfect! Right across from the elementary school, a decent size yard, three bedrooms, it had everything. The landlord decided to let us rent it, and we started moving in. We finally had a home of our own in Texas.

It was so nice living in Texas and in that house. Especially with the school right across the street. The kids loved walking to school. I guess it made them feel more grown-up. They made friends fast, which was amazing and made me happy. Before I knew it, we had kids at our house every weekend. It finally felt like life was going to start looking up for us.
