While going to S. Ray Lowder, I started opening up to the counselor about some of the things that happened to me. She was so sweet, she decided to send me to Swannanoa 4-H Camp, so I could get away and meet other kids; some of which had gone through the same things I have been through. I was excited to say the least. My mom and Johnny decided to let me go.
The day I left for camp; I was so nervous. What if the other kids didn't like me? What if someone there tried messing with me too? Should I even go, or should I just stay at home? I of course went, and it was the best time I had ever had. We went canoeing, practiced archery, went swimming, and hiking. There was always something to do, they kept us busy.
While I was there, I met a girl named Melissa, we quickly became best friends. I told her some of the stuff that had happened to me, and she also told me things. We just kind of connected, it was like we had known one another our whole lives. From that point on, we were the best of friends, even once we got home from camp. We would walk around the block where we lived, we would go places together, for a while we only hung out with each other. Of course, that changed as we were getting older, we had other friends, and separate things we wanted to do. She became wild, and I did not. Although, we no longer associate with one another - I still pray that she will find her way in life. I just personally don't have time for the drama anymore, as I'm an adult and want to succeed in my life without anyone or anything bringing me down.
