When I was six, my brothers and I went for a walk to the Shoals River. Yes, believe it or not, back then kids walked all over the place; without fear of getting kidnapped or anything else happening. We went to the river and played on the playground; that used to be there. We also got in the water, and skipped rocks on the water.

On our way back home, my brothers were walking on the outside near the road, while I walked on the inside close to the grass/sidewalk. I started skipping and before I knew it, I had fallen into the storm drain, and gotten stuck. Only my chest up was out of the drain. My foot had caught onto something underneath when I fell, causing me to not fall all the way in. Which was good considering it led to the river.

My brothers tried getting me out but couldn't. So, Jack left Nick there with me, and he went to get help. Before I knew it, there was strangers, my mom, the police, and the fire department all there. Which only made me more nervous and scared. After a couple hours, I was finally free and out of the storm drain. To this day, that same storm drain is still there, and every time I pass by it - I think of that day.

The day I fell in the storm drain, was the same day my brother Nick befriended a man named Johnny. No one knew about this man, until one day, Nick asked mom if he could have a friend over for dinner. Mom said, "yes", not knowing what friend was coming over. That night, a grown man named Johnny, came to the house. When mom asked him what he wanted, Nick interrupted her and said, "That's my friend mom!" We were all shocked, but mom still let him come in for dinner. Now this man could have been a mass murderer, but he wasn't. He did however, have a six pack of beer with him when he came to eat dinner that night. We all sat at the table and got along good. I actually liked him too, which was a big accomplishment since the Mark thing, considering I didn't like any man after that.

He and my mom started seeing each other. I was happy for her, and she seemed happy too. Days turned into months, and before I knew it, he was living with us. Him and my mom started talking about moving to Lincolnton, NC. I was all for it, because I'd be away from Mark; even though it had been almost three years.
