The room the servant leads me to is large and lavishly furnished, but I don't really take in many of the details, my brain too tired to notice. After checking everything is alright for me, the servant bows and leaves, and I close the door behind him with a snap that makes it clear I do not want to be disturbed.
I walk slowly into the joint bathroom, reminding myself to thank Elide for that later. Most guest rooms don't have bathrooms attached. I stop before the mirror on one wall, then turn to the side, stripping of my top.
Where my stomach was once a flat mass of muscle, a slight bump is starting to appear, raised only slightly. With a loose top on, it would be unnoticeable, and with a tight one on, it would just look like fat, but...
It sinks in then. I'm pregnant. There is a small child growing inside me - my child. I run my hands over the bump incredulously, marvelling at the fact that I really am going to have a baby.
It's... amazing.
I stand, running my hands over that new life, over my stomach, for so long I lose track of time, Eventually, tiredness takes over my wonder and I am swaying on my feet. I walk back into the main room, stripping my clothes off and climbing in between the soft bedsheets. It's been so long since I've slept on a real bed I actually groan as I lay there.
I'm asleep in minutes.
