That Guy Should be Me (part 2)

POV JACE:

You should be with me and not with him .... That phrase stayed in my mind all night! I always thought he liked his best friend, which was my only reason why it was my mission to forget him last year. It wasn't easy, but with some help from my family and Gabriel I can say that I did it. Or so I thought, before I knew the truth.

I was waiting for a year to hear that statement and he decides to tell me when I'm in a relationship? But what timing ... I was brooding in my bed at night and the only solution I found is to be honest with both of them, so after getting dressed and eating something, I came to Gabriel and told him everything I if it was happening since yesterday evening.

- And this is it! I know it's a decision that may not make sense but I don't want to be with you if in my head there are what if ... You don't deserve that, but someone who loves you with the same intent as you do.

- I understand, it costs me but I understand! You also deserve all the happiness in the world and if Simon is the person who will give it to you, go ahead.

- Has anyone ever told you that you're fantastic?

- Many people, but only one interested me!

After having talked and explained what I felt to Gabriel, I left his office and went to the institute because I still needed to think about my life. Although I ended my relationship with Gabriel, I didn't know if it was appropriate to join one with Simon.

The following days went by in a rush, always on missions, being a way to loosen my head, but these last two days I haven't seen Simon, which is strange because he is always around to help us.

- Have you seen Simon? He has not appeared on missions.

- Actually, since you mention that, I haven't seen him. I know he went on a mission and never came back.

We spent the rest of the afternoon on phone calls to our friends but none of them had seen Simon these past two days, nor had his best friend. What if he never got back from the mission? Did he get hurt? Do you need help? What happened to him?

After talking to everyone, we decided to follow the clues we had about the mission that Simon was carrying out and we found out that it involved a sword that could eliminate all beings with powers that inhabited the shadow world, but that had only been used in a village in the city of Nice, France, so I teleported using the portal over there.

After some searching for our part, we discovered a house from which a strange smoke was coming out, so we decided to enter. Inside were some dead vampires and seelies and my fear grew.

Let's think about it a little ... He hasn't communicated with us for two days, which was when he came for this mission and we found bodies of vampires and seelies on the ground, completely dead due to the use of a sword that kills supernatural beings .. Does that mean he is dead too?

- No, he can't ... He can't!

- Jace, what's going on there? What are you seeing?

- He's dead, Izzy.

- Who?

- Simon! He died.- I said, dropping tears that threatened to come out of the corner of my eye.

- You can't say that with 100% certainty Jace. We haven't seen his body yet. Without a body there is no confirmation. He may just be hurt or else he won't be able to contact us, "said Alec, putting his hand on my shoulder.

- Alec is right, Jace! You have to come back here and together we thought of a way to resolve this situation.- said Izzy and we did so, despite my protests.

My head, at this moment, has a whirlwind of ideas and thoughts. Part of me just wants to go into the room and pretend that all this was just a nightmare, the other part wants to continue to solve this mystery and go looking for Simon.

Not having news of him was driving me crazy. The minutes passed and we still had no news of him or what happened in that house. We were sharing tasks, while Clary and Luke went to the French institute to compare notes, Alec and I went back to the house where the incident had occurred, because there could be something there that failed us.

- We have already turned this house from one end to the other and no new clues have emerged. Alec is he okay?

While we were inside, my cell phone rang but I didn't recognize the number. I answered but only heard a breath, I didn't hear a person's voice, until they spoke and that voice was recognized.

"Jace!" Exclaimed the person on the cell phone.

- Simon, where are you? You are fine?

- I'm not sure where I am and I was injured, I'm not healing well.

While I was talking to Simon, Alec called our sister to find where Simon's call came from and the location said she was two blocks from that house. We used the transporter and in a matter of seconds we were on the street where Simon was supposed to be, too.

- Simon, I don't see you ... Where are you? Alec, are you sure this is it?

"I think I see something," said Alec, smiling and at the end of the street, we saw a person lying on the floor.

We ran to that person and luckily it was Simon. We used the transporter to go home and there, we took him to the infirmary where one of our doctors stayed to treat him. One of the reasons he was unable to heal was because he had a part of the sword stuck in his ribs. After withdrawal, he began to see his skin returning to what it was.

- We are very happy that you are here safe and sound, but we will make you more at ease.- said Izzy and they all left except me.

- What was she talking about? - asked Simon but I just hugged him. - Jace, is everything okay?

- You never make a scene like this again, you know! Not knowing if you were dead or alive ended me. I never felt this kind of fear in my life and I hope I never will again because it was terrifying.

- Sorry, the mission turned out to be more risky than it seemed at first. But what matters is that I'm back and alive!

- Can I tell you something? I love you! As I've never loved anyone in my life, you know ....

- Wait and Gabriel?

- Let me finish, please. A year ago I had a huge crush for you but I always thought you liked Clary so I decided that the best thing was to forget about you and in the middle of it all Gabriel appeared and things happened, but after our conversation, I never stopped thinking in what you told me and that's when I realized that maybe things between us hadn't completely resolved and so I talked to him and we were done. In the following days we were looking for you and I think that despite how bad it was, I think it was positive for me because I realized that I cannot live without you. Almost losing you was ... A nightmare from which I just wanted to wake up to finally tell you everything I felt.

- Does that mean ...

- It means that I want to be with you, wherever we are ... What matters to me is that we are together.
