han jihyun was perfectly normal. at least that's what she thought. everyone else, on the other hand, seemed to disagree with her. that's why she was there, alone, in...

the young girl, just barely nineteen, lied on her plain white bed, staring at the plain white ceiling of the plain white room. she took a deep breath and sat up. she knew that at around this time the lady with the patronising smile would come into her bedroom or "cell" as the girl calls it to deliver her lunchtime meal. this type of awareness came naturally to her after being stuck in the same room for what seems like eternity with no entertainment. as if she could predict the future, the lady knocked on her door and came in with a tray of the daily mush. except today, it wasn't mush. after placing it down on the girl's lap, the lady spoke, "alright jihyun-ah, today you get to have kimchi jiage!" jihyun gave the woman a blank stare whilst looking directly into her eyes."Isn't that exciting! I'm going to go now. be good." she continued, unfazed, as, of course, this was usual. reluctantly, jihyun forced the so-called 'food' down her throat before she took her medicine and rested, once again, on the plain white bed stationed at the back of her plain white chamber.
everything in the room was plain white. well, apart from jihyun of course. the only thing about her close to white was her skin tone as the last time she had seen the sun was an awfully long time ago.
the girl had straight, chestnut brown hair that was extremely lengthy as the workers at the asylum had never thought to cut her hair. but her eyes were a different story. on the surface, they were just the common brown. however nothing could equate to the emotional torture and hidden agony behind them. her eyes held memories of things her brain did not want to and nobody but her would know.
as the girl was walking towards her 'bed' she suddenly became wary of her surroundings. jihyun-ah an ushered voice whispered from behind her. moments like this, when she actually hears them, she questions if there really is something wrong with her. they always told her that she was insane. that she was crazy. that she was like the Mad Hatter. but if it was just her subconscious they wouldn't keep coming back, right?
"who's there?" she confidently choked out as she pivoted 180 degrees to face where she thought was the direction of the voice. jihyun-ssi another voice beckoned. they kept on coming. more and more voices challenged her, each one adding more to the prominent pounding in her head, circling and swarming her mind as if she were their prey.
"leave me alone." she spat, while clutching her head and falling to her knees. frantically, she panned the room, searching for the source of the vocal tornado attacking her mind. as the noises gradually became louder, she let out an anguished scream and took absolutely no notice of the four other bodies in her room trying -with no avail- to pry her hands off of her head and halt her deafening screams. but then she felt a soft prick in her arm. and the voices stopped.
