as the girl opened eyes, her previously content mood was ruined as she found out that she was, in fact, not in her cell. oh right, the voices came back yesterday. warily, she analysed her surroundings surely they wouldn't let me out, not now she thought to herself.
her gaze drifted across the medical supplies and decided she was in some sort of hospital or nursing facility, but her thoughts were cut short when she was met with the warm brown eyes of a boy. "hello," he spoke "my name is hyunjin." "i'm jihyun" the girl responded while sitting up on what she could only describe as a hospital bed.
she had only been to the hospital once. it was when her mother sprained her ankle and she, her father and twin brother had to go to get her cast removed. she only barely remembers it.
"so jihyun," hyunjin cut her thoughts off, "i will be your doctor from now on." oh. she thought. so he's one of those. just another who has come to look at the jungle of a brain i have to test if they can experiment with it and find something new. there were four before him. each one more cruel and cunning than the last. he must be a sociopath. at that thought her face contorted into a worried expression.
"i'm not going to hurt you." he whispered while looking at his feet "i would never do that." jihyun could only purse her lips in response. why could she trust him? if she could, why would she? he broke the silence, "i want to help you. can you try to trust me? can you let me help you?" he looked at her with hopeful eyes. but she could not meet his gaze.
"when i was fourteen," hyunjin began "they took my sister away. they told us it was for her own good, that she would be better when she comes back and that we could visit her." at that she met his gaze only to find that droplets of water were starting to form at the tips of his oh-so-beautiful eyes. "it's been seven years. and i haven't seen her since."
"i'm sorry." the girl managed. "please let me help you. i really want you to see your family. i don't want them to feel the way i did. just please." taking a deep breath, jihyun sat up properly and looked him in the eyes.
