an unidentifiable amount of time later the girl sat on her plain white bed as usual expecting no out of the out of the ordinary events to take place. she expected to lay there for hours on end getting lost in a maze of thoughts or maybe even taking a nap. but boy was she wrong. in fact, none of the tasks on her agenda get accomplished- well maybe a bit of the former but aside from that- the point is that something unexpected will take place today.
jihyun was delivered her morning meal by the usual lady, who's name was nayeon. how does she know this? well she asked as she thought it was a bit rude to keep calling her 'the lady.' "here jihyun-ah! today's breakfast includes waffles! look at that, they even have syrup on them!" nayeon exclaimed, faking a smile. instead of ignoring her as usual, jihyun decided to return the lady's fake smile with a fake smile of her own.
when nayeon had left the room, the girl hastily picked up the utensils intending to gobble up as much as she could in order to save herself from lengthening the war that was surely about to arise on her tastebuds. tentatively, she picked up the fork and put a piece of that waffle in her mouth. as soon as she took a bite, she gasped. for once it was actually good.
it had been about a week since her meeting with hyunjin and she hasn't seen him since. secretly, she was anticipating his meetings due to two things: a) she wanted to see how he would help her b) he looked fine as hell.
as she sat on her plain white bed, she contemplated when she thought she would see him again and whether she made the right choice letting him help her. how could she know, everything he said could have been a lie. after all, anyone can betray anyone.
after what she believed to be hours later, she heard the unusual click of her 'cell' unlocking and swiftly casted her gaze upon the door. unsurprisingly, she saw the male she was previously thinking about.
"hi!" he greeted her with a wide smile. "hello." she greeted him back. "okay so this is our first session so i don't expect you to tell me your deepest secrets or anything like that." he stated jokingly. "so, how was your day so far? what did you do?" i remembered the delicious breakfast from earlier. "today i got waffles for breakfast instead of mush for a change! they were really good, the even came with syrup." the girl replied putting emphasis on the word syrup. he chuckled, "glad to see you enjoyed my waffles then!" "you sent me them?" she asked the male. "i thought it would be nice since i know that all you ever get is tasteless mush anyways." i mean he's not wrong she admitted. "well," she started "thanks." he smiled, "no problem."
he then proceeded to ask her how they treat her and if she was comfortable with it. "this is getting a bit deeper- you don't have to answer if you don't want to- but do you think you are insane?" hyunjin asked the girl. she froze. "well, i try not to think like that." jihyun began, "but sometimes with everything like the meds and when i hear them, i doubt myself." he nodded in understanding. "what's it like?" the male abruptly pondered, "when you hear them?" she stayed silent for a moment.
"at first i only hear one voice. then two. then three. and more. it's like you're being buried alive while people are shoving dirt at your casket."
