(A/N- I always thought Bob and Randy weren't terrible guys, just upset to a degree. So in this story, Y/N's able to help them be the best them)

Pony's P.O.V.

I sit around the lunch table with the gang on the first day of school back from Winter break. Bored out of our minds, Dally flirts with every girl that passes, Steve and Soda talk about cars, Two-Bit flips up skirts, and Johnny and I converse about our winter break. There were a few other greasers like the Shepard's gang sitting with us.
The break wasn't all that eventful. Dallas was in the cooler for most of it. Steve and Soda worked constantly. Darry worked all the time too. Two-Bit partied and was bouncing off the walls. Johnny, Curly Shepard, and I spent some time hanging around town.

"Don't you get bored of that?" Steve asks Two-Bit and Dally, "The same girls everyday. Isn't it tiring?"
"Stevie, my boy, nothing is boring about checking out broads," Dally smiles.
"Yeah, plus, they shouldn't wear the same panties everyday, it's my duty to make sure all of the girls are being hygienic," Two-Bit says in defense.
We roll our eyes as the cafeteria settles and everyone sits down to eat.

"Check out the new girl," Tim Shepard nods.
We turn our attention to a girl looking around the cafeteria cluelessly. I squint my eyes and my heart beat quickens.
"Is that..?" Two-Bit grins.
"Can't be," Soda shakes his head.
"Yeah, she's too hot to be Y/N," Dally smirks.
"I always thought Y/N was pretty," Johnny says softly.
Y/N begins to walk down the isle, looking for somewhere to sit maybe. Or possibly us.

She keeps her eyes on the greasers side of the cafeteria, but Randy Adderson taps her on the back. She turns around and looks him up and down before smiling and hugging him.
Y/N was special. Everyone loved her. The Socs AND greasers. She was always able to get the best of everyone to show. And she never let flaws get in the way. She acted and dressed like a Soc, but identified as a greaser. At least that's how she was before she moved.
Randy motioned toward his table but Y/N said something that made him frown a little and sit down. She continued walking down the isle before making eye contact with me. Her eyes widen as she speeds up. I get off the table and get ready as she jumps into my arms.

"Ponyboy!" She says as I hold her. I let her down and the gang all hug her one by one. "You guys look so..." Y/N begins, "Well, you guys grew up quite a bit while I was gone, huh?"
"Us?" Steve asks, "Look at you! You look amazing!"
"You look beautiful," Two-Bit compliments.
"Gorgeous!" Soda nods.
"Thanks, you guys," She blushes, "You all look very handsome."

We sit down and start asking Y/N questions.
"Why'd you move back?" Johnny asks.
"My parents.. they uh..." Y/N looks down, "Kicked the can. Ma left her cigarette burning too long. The whole house went down while I was at school. I was given their money, which I put most in the bank. And the rest is stashed with me. I'm living with my Aunt Gracie now."
"Oh," we all look down.
"Sorry to hear that," I frown, knowing the pain.

"Don't be," Y/N lets out a scoff, "They were abusive pieces of shit anyways. Look, I still have a black eye from the last time the old man laid one on me."
Dally, Steve, and Johnny all share looks of understanding.
"Wish my old man died in a fire," Dally sighs.
"Yeah, me too," Steve nods.
Johnny stays silent. Y/N grabs his hand and runs circles with her thumb.

"It's okay, Johnnycake," She smiles.
He blushes and looks down.
"Hey, your Aunt Gracie did say she hired someone new at the DX, is that you?" Soda asks. Gracie L/N owned the DX, us boys were pretty close to her.
"Yeah, I'm working behind the counter for those who wanna buy snacks and stuff," Y/N nods.
"Awesome, alone time with our favorite gal pal," Steve smiles.

"So, how's everyone doing with their little girlfriends?" Y/N teases, "Soda, still with Sandy? And Sylvia, Dally?"
"The broad cheated on me again while I was in the cooler," Dally sighs, "It's fine though."
"Oh," she looks down.
"Sandy's good," Soda speaks up, "We're about to be two years strong come summer."
"That's good to hear," Y/N smiles, "What about the rest of you boys? Anyone get a girl?"
"I met a girl named Evie," Steve gushes.
"Nothin' too serious," I shrug.

"What about you, N/N?" Two-Bit asks, "Body like that, guys are gonna be all over you."
"I wasn't allowed to date, so I never had anything other thank a lunch or football date," Y/N explains, "Still haven't had a first boyfriend, or date, or kiss, anything."
"Wow, really?" Steve asks, "Must've driven everyone crazy."
"Nothing they couldn't handle," Y/N smirks.
"I don't know, N/N," Johnny says, "You had the sweetest personality before, and now you've got the looks to match it. You're the perfect girl."
