"Did I ever tell you that I'm never going to get tired of waking up to you every morning?"
After their extremely late night, Barry and Alex had passed out in their bed instantly. They had slept in way past their normal time which would surely bite them in the ass later that day but neither of them cared. All they knew was that by the time they were both awake, neither of them wanted to leave the other's hold.
Alex felt warm in his arms after the cold interaction with Caitlin yesterday. He had been worried by her tactics on how to get the real Caitlin to come out, even though they had it had all worked out in the end of it all. He made sure that she was okay the moment that she stepped foot into the cortex.
As soon as Caitlin was back to her normal self, she devised a stabalizer that would help Wally speed his mind up to his body. The only problem after that was figuring out where he had run off to. Thankfully for Alex, she knew his safe haven just as he had known hers. He had been at his mother's house.
Whenever he was upset or missed her, he went back there in hopes to find comfort. It had worked a majority of the time but there was still the missing hole in his chest where his mother once was. Unfortunately, it was a pain that never truly went away, not even with time.
As soon as he was back and safe in STAR Labs, team Flash called it a night and sent everyone home. They had a long day and there was no point in running tests on him when they were all running on fumes. Alex was thankful that she finally got to rest in her own bed, she didn't get enough sleep as it was. ?"
"Why don't we make that a little more permanent then?" Barry asked. They were facing each other, noses only inches apart. He pushed the loose hairs away from her face and kept his palm resting there. A smile covered his face - one that was of pure joy and nothing could ruin it for him.
"What do you mean?" Alex asked. Her cold fingers glided over his bare sides, which he had to hold back a shiver to. Just as much as he loved to tickle her sides, he was just as bad as she was. The only difference was that she was generally more kind when it came to withholding that kind of torture.
"I mean," Barry reached behind him with flash speed and opened something from his bedside drawer. A glimmer of silver caught her eye instantly and she was shocked by the small piece of metal. "Alexandra Holt, will you marry me?"
Alex jumped up from bed, the sheets tangled around her as she sat straight up. They had joked about getting married all the time but never had she thought that he would have been serious about it so soon. They had been together for over two years - which had already felt like a lifetime with him.
Every moment that she spent with Barry seemed to only last seconds but it felt as if she had been with him all her life. She knew his strength, his weaknesses, what he loved, the things he hated about himself, his dreams and aspirations. Alex knew everything about him and he knew just as much about her.
