The Nurses Office

I woke up, the room was really bright. I rubbed my eyes and looked around the room squinting, I saw two figures sat next to me, my vision became clear, it was Rhett and Link. I let out a little groan, they both turned to me "You're awake!" Rhett said. Link leaned over and grabbed my hand and rubbed his thumb over my fingers. "Are you ok?" he asked. I felt comforted by his touch "Umm yeah" I reached to touch my cheek, it was hot, I got my mirror from my bag, I looked to see a bright red mark that was shaped a little like a hand. "Where are we?" I said looking up at them "Nurses office" Rhett replied "How'd I get here?" "Rhett carried you here" Link said. I was about to stand up when they both stopped me. "The nurse said that when you wake up she wants to check if you're ok, you could have banged your head" Rhett left to get the nurse. "My head doesn't hurt, it's just my cheek" I said to Link, he started to tear up "What's wrong? I'm honestly fine" I said whilst rubbing his arm. "This is all my fault! If I was paying attention to you I would have probably been able to stop him before he hurt you!" I've never seen him cry before, but I know I never want to see him like that again! He was making me fill up. "Link! What are you saying!? It's not your fault at all!" I held him tightly "You must have been so scared!" he said as he pulled away and wiped his eyes on his sleeves. "Who was he anyway?" "That was James, he's one of the school bullies, he bugs me and Rhett all the time, he's pathetic!" I could see him clenching his fists "It's ok, it's over now, What happened after I passed out?" "When they saw you motionless on the floor they panicked and ran, me and Rhett ran over as soon as we heard you shout my name, we knew something was wrong".

Rhett and the nurse walked in. The nurse checked my head, it was fine, she gave me an ice pack to take the swelling down in my cheek. She wrote me a note about the incident for my parents to read and sent us all on our way. We all missed last lesson so it was time to go home. As we walked to the gates Rhett said "Maybe you shouldn't come tonight" "I'm coming guys! I'll meet you both at Links" they looked at me surprised "Ok, but text us if you change your mind" Link said "Ok" I kissed and hugged Link and hugged Rhett "Thank you so much guys!" I turned around and went to the car.

I sat next to my dad, he noticed me holding the ice pack on my cheek. He pulled my arm away from my face "Who did that?" he said as he noticed the mark. I handed him the note, he examined it and I could see the anger in his eyes as he finished reading. We began driving home, the car ride was silent.

When we got home my dad showed my mum the note, they both got angry and wanted to go to school and meet the culprit. We sat at the dining table ready to eat dinner, they asked many questions about it. All I answered them with was "I don't want to talk about it". They understood and let me eat.
