*Cadences POV*These past two days the shows have gone quite well! Tonight was the last show and Freddie was coming to see it. I've been petrified each night because all it takes is one person to get too close to me during my turns and it's all ruined! Don't even get me started on the partner work! But strangely according to my teachers my musicality and overall performance seemed better.
Freddie told me he's been looking for fabrics for the dress and honestly it made me so excited! The fact that he cared enough to even suggest to make me a dress was something. I had a long routine each day before shows up until I went to get ready filled with stretching and preparing. When I got there and back to the dressing room I first had to make sure my pointe shoes were ready. Then I sat to do my makeup which was also a challenge.
I had to constantly ask people if it looked alright and trust that they'd be honest and the previous night they weren't. My hands started shaking again and I just couldn't do it I got far to terrified. "Hey what's wrong?" One of the nicer ballet instructors walked over to me. I shakily tried to explain that I couldn't see well enough to do my makeup on my own. If it was just simple I could've but this role had an intricate eye design. "I'll help you...don't worry." She picked up my makeup brush and started doing it for me.
I felt helpless of corse in this role I couldn't wear my glasses and I honestly could barely see a thing. She finished my makeup and helped me with my hair. My costume for Act 1 before I "died" was a peasant girl type dress with the brown top white puffy sleeves and tan skirt. I had a small hairpiece and white tights.
I got on my pointe shoes stretching and basically going through every step in my mind. I was done a bit before anyone thanks to the instructor and had time to calm down a bit. Then I heard a male voice saying sorry and one of the teachers yelling that no one was allowed back here. "Freddie..." I sighed just knowing it was him trying to come see me. All the girls started freaking out thinking it was some weirdo.
I walked out the door saying I was going to the bathroom and sure enough there he was. "They get changed all in there together?!" He whisper yelled to himself covering his face clearly he saw something he didn't want to. "Yes yes we do" I laughed a bit. "Oh Cadence thank god! How'd you know it was me?" He uncovered his face and turned to me. "You're the only one who'd do that." He nodded in agreement.
"You look gorgeous lovey...you'll do amazing." I smiled at least the teacher didn't sabotage my makeup. He gave me a little hug and told me to "Break a leg" and I backed away waving. I went back and the girls stopped screaming finally. We went backstage and I tried to block out any nerves getting little glances of how many people were there. We all had to be as silent as possible and then the music started.
When it was my time to go on the worst part was I couldn't even see enough to find where Freddie was. I liked looking at a familiar face it helped calm me down. The first Act went perfectly fine and then I had to go back and change into my next costume. A long flowing white dress with little sleeves and some grey accents. I got help with my makeup and hair once again.
*Freddie's POV*
Just seeing her pretend to die broke my heart. She was absolutely beautiful ballet always fascinated me but this was the first I'd seen in person and to be honest it was so much more compelling than I imagined. It was romance and all that which she portrayed fabulously. I can't believe she hasn't got a boyfriend! I imagined what it would be like being in a relationship with her only for fun of corse.
All throughout Act 2 I was thoroughly impressed with how she could do all this with very limited vision. She would be at the studio everyday at clearly it payed off. I was pretty damn close to crying when it was over and we all cheered. At the end when they all came out to bow I saw Cadence limping a little bit and I got really worried.
Then they all went into this hallway area to see people who were there for them and I quickly found her. She was leaning against the wall holding right ankle. "What happened dear? Are you alright?" I put my hand on her shoulder having to shout a bit. "N-no one told me there was a prop backstage...I tripped over it." She looked and sounded like she was in a lot of pain. I put one arm around her waist and the other under her knees picking her up. I started asking people if they had any medics and finally someone heard me.
They had me take her back to a little room with a small cot while they got someone. I sat her down telling her how amazing she did. I picked her right leg up and untied her pointe shoe taking it off. It was clear she was hurting a lot and I got nervous she could've broken it. After a few minutes a medic came in and started looking at her ankle. He said that she could've fractured a bone and to get to the hospital as soon as she could. They had to call her parents to come get her.
I sat there with her and helped wipe off her makeup and take down her hair. She was freaking out a tiny bit but I just sat with her. I had her legs over my lap and put ice on her ankle. Her head was against my neck and somehow this whole time she didn't cry maybe she was in shock. "My god kitten you were perfect up there...it was like you were actually in love with that boy." I felt her smile and god a tad bit jealous for some reason.
I heard her mumble "Thank you" a few times. The dear was always thanking me if only she knew how much she'd helped me this past month. Someone came in saying that her parents were there. She kissed my cheek and said goodbye. "Bye my love" I watched them help her out. I like her I really really like her.
