It was 8am in the morning when the door bell rang. Sangeeta was not happy at all because it was Sunday! I mean who comes so early on Sunday, come on man! She thought. She got off from her bed and went to the door to open it. Okay, it was her neighbour who lived the next door.
"The electricity will be cut off for a two hour span from around 10am. Sure be prepared for that. I just came to inform you about this. Have a nice day." She said and turned on her heels.
"Alright", said Sangeeta, quite like a whisper. "So that means I have to do all the cooking, washing, ironing stuffs within two hours! Is that a joke! Ahaha", she whined.
She washed herself and went to the kitchen of her flat. Her flat was an average sized one though it was rented.
Apparently, she keeps everything neat and clean. Today she was enjoying her Sunday morning under the blanket, but now she has to hurry up to make the lunch and wash the clothes before the electricity gets cut off.Her flat has a big living come dining area, one balcony, two bedrooms and two toilets. In the living area there are only the necessary things like a sofa, a centre table, a television set which she barely turns on, and dining table at the corner, placed with four chairs though she needs just one.
There was nothing special about the kitchen too.. a gas top, a chimney, a dish washer which she broke last month, as a result of which she has to do the dishes on her own. Her bedroom contained one large bed, a bed side table at the right of the room and a wardrobe at the left. The only thing that was quite satisfying to Sangeeta was the balcony she got in her flat. It was the place she enjoyed the most whenever she is angry, sad, depressed or happy. Every night after dinner she would grab her phone, headphones and settle herself in the chair of her balcony and she would play her favorite One direction songs. She would hum it along with them ..
And I'll be gone, gone tonight
The ground beneath my feet is open wide
The way that I been holdin' on too tight
With nothing in between
The story of my life..................................
She had just finished her breakfast - a plain cornflakes and milk routine, as her phone rang. It's Amit. What is it now? She thought. "Hello? ""Hey! I just sent you a copy of my presentation. I think I made a mistake again and I guess I can't complete it within tomorrow too. Can you please help me? I mean, please, i really need your help" , he literally begged from the other side.
"Again?", Sangeeta asked with disgust.
"It's the third time you're asking me to help you Amit. What is wrong with you?"" Ahh... Come on.. help me this time.. I promise I'll do better next time."
" You better do that Amit. Or you're gonna get fired soon. I'm taking care of it for the last time. " Sangeeta told him and hung up the phone. This boy is really getting me pissed off nowadays. Such an inattentive guy.. uff! She mumbled.
She finished cooking for lunch and just then the fan started to decelerate its speed. Okay it's gone. I'm sort of done with my work though. She thought.
Sangeeta had a really normal but lonely life. Not so many friends, not so good neighbors. She was thinking how to pass this Sunday. Suddenly the phone rang. "Not again Amit.. please! "
She said to herself and just witnessed an unknown number. She hesitated for a moment and picked it up. "Hello? "
"Aii Sangeeta!!! Pune r kothay thakis bolto tui! (Where exactly do you live in Pune?) "Sangeeta jumped out of the sofa. That voice. One of her most favorite voices. Shreya. She missed this voice so much!
