"PENDRIVE?", My voice increased way higher than I thought.

"Payel, you ..", I could feel the heat of anger inside me. Did she take my project? Out of everyone? And I was accusing Shivam!

For a second, I felt like if I could just get a knife or something and separate her head from her body.

Just why?

Why is she always doing such nuisance things and why am I always letting these happen everytime?

"I seriously apologize Shreya! Yesterday, when I took it, it was out of.. out of my sudden resentment... I felt bad after that. Like, I seriously felt that I did wrong. But I didn't have a chance to return it"

All that she was blabbering out to me, I was least interested in those.

Why am I letting her talk so much?

"
You knew that I was putting this blame on Shivam the whole time. Right?", I glared at her. "You didn't speak up or say anything... Just why Payel!"

"Look, I know I made this mistake.. don't complain about me..I'll get fired.. Please.. ", she closed her eyes and kept on requesting me.

A certain feeling had already taken over my entire mind. It was not the anger on Payel.

I almost made a severe mistake. I almost stopped that boy from making a presentation, which affected him in other way too.

If I didn't opt to open the door and let him go, at that moment, and then this girl would have come and tell me about this, I would have regreted all my life for my immaturity.

I thanked my heart for taking the right decision over my brain at that time.

I looked at her again.

She moved her right hand forward, towards me, in which she had my pendrive.
"Here... ", She wanted me to take it.

Though it was useless, still I snatched it away from her.
I took a minute to calm down.
"When did you take it?", I asked her in a very low serious voice.

"First promise me, you won't react when you hear the full story.. "

I raised an eye brow and lifted one of my hand as an indication to continue, as I leaned on the wall beside my cubicle.
I wondered what full story there could be.

"When you and Shivam left yesterday for coffee during the tiffin break, I stole it.... ", The sentence was incomplete.

And then she finished it.

"... I stole it from Shivam's table."

My lips parted a little.
"And what the hell it was doing there...
Wait! Do you mean he.... "

I could feel my heart beating everywhere around my body except in the chest.

"Do you like tea or coffee? ", Mitali asked. "Actually I prefer tea over coffee, that's why I asked."

Sangeeta thought for a little.
"Both are okay. I prefer coffee a little more than tea", she replied.

Mitali wanted to ask something to her to continue the conversation but there was a lack of topic maybe.
"Umm.. does your parents live in Kolkata?", Mitali asked.

"Yes"

"Actually I kinda know where you lived", she continued.

Sangeeta shifted her concentration from the coffee to Mitali's words.
"I guess I know how. You must have visited Saurav's house. We lived in the same locality."

"Absolutely right. And then he showed me your house", she said. Then lowering her voice a little, she continued, "he talked a lot about you.. a lot.."

Then she again cheered her voice up.
"Actually I had an unclear idea about the person Sangeeta in my brain."

"I see. So.. do I match up with your imagination? ", Sangeeta asked jokingly.

"Yes, a lot. Though, you are sweeter than I thought."

Sangeeta chuckled at this.

However Mitali continued.
"He used to talk a lot about you. Sometimes he called me by your name too."
Though she tried hard to hide it, but the smile on her face was sad. Sangeeta noticed that.

"We were best of friends.. and we thought we would never be separated." Covering up the real reason, she wanted to make it sound as much practical as possible.
"But you know career things.. we had to separate our ways.. "

"I know.. he liked you, Sangeeta.. ", she shifted the topic to the most uncomfortable one.

Sangeeta's heart took a pace but she knew how to handle it.
"That's good for you to know everything. You're gonna stay with him for the rest of your life"

"He told me everything, when we started to date. That he liked someone, and confessed to her. But the feelings were not mutual. Then I came to know that it was you". Mitali smiled softly.

"He did it right, to tell you this.", Sangeeta added. "It was all about in the past so you don't have to worry."

Mitali widened her eyes. "Oh no no! Don't get me wrong. I'm not telling that I'm worried or anything because of you.

But there are always some questions in our unconscious mind, which we want to ask. That's all Sangeeta. Please don't mind"

"No Mitali, I didn't mind." , Sangeeta smiled at her.

"Can I ask you one question, Sangeeta? " She asked.

Sangeeta didn't have the idea about what kind of question it was. But she nodded as she didn't have a reason to hesitate.

"What's it? ", Sangeeta asked back.

"Were the feelings really not mutual? Didn't you ever like him?"

Sangeeta snapped her gaze at her.

"Or it was just you getting afraid about the friendship getting ruined?", She completed her question and looked at Sangeeta, eagerly waiting for an answer.

Sangeeta is always honest about her feelings. But the scenario was not that simple now. One yes from her part, could surely make things worse between Saurav and Mitali.

What should I do?

Should I lie? She thought.
